Fill in President of 82, Dennis Taylor looked on as Sean declared that he was proud that the Teamsters could help so many men who made a mistake and done there time. He went on to say that croneyisim was done and that no one from 25 would displace any members at 82 on the Trade Show floor. A lucrative 82 savings and investment portfolio will be absorbed and overseen by 25's savey experts that helped 25 achieve 8% on their portfolio in 2011. Movers at 82 are getting an overseer from 25 and will be very active in securing Boston as a Teamster domain with picket lines to prove it.
The Voice of 82, the website that fought tooth and nail with the now discredited leadership, is closed.
Good by 82. So many great memories. To bad it had to come to this.
File this under Rank(PEE-u)

If the members of Local 82 were NOT given the opportunity to vote on whether or not they wanted to approve the proposed merger, then that is a violation of the IBT constitution, and somebody at 82 needs to file charges.
In the post 2002 version of the IBT constitution that I have, on page 70, under Article IX, section 11, Mergers, the following is stated:
...the merging Local Union shall conduct a vote of its membership, after reasonable notice, to approve the merger proposal.

At this meeting the liar O'brien told the members that 25 is in full control of 82 and it's assets and that the union hall is nolonger open they were moved into 25 and that there would be no changes of the H/W or of dues until 7/1/12 he said this would give him enough time have things looked at, But the real reason is by then the Grand Jury will have already Indicted most of the union Leaders under investigation and the EBSA and DOL will have moved there focus on the trial. But Sean should remember the guy he has taken over for Taylor and Perry both are rats and will roll over the second they find out their going to do time, and Both have something on O'brien and the rest of JC 10. Sean you should really go back and read what took place at those hearings because you and Laughton tanked a whole bunch for Perry, as far back as the charges with A member from the of the building to the most recent "I make the rules here" ,Did you get notifed about the Pension fund sean because I think laughton did and wow how bad the funds are and to let some much go what would you say since being notified? about 10 15 million is owed? no it can't be that much ? wait it might be more isn't there something call FIDUCIARY RESPONSIBILITY ya I think thats it between that and Art 2 Sect 2 of the IBT Constitution you have some issues well it's not just you Laughton Taylor and I would say Mc Dermott but he isn't even a Teamster the little Drunk. Looks like those lawyers that have you well insulated are going to be busy. I think Perry tried the saem game plan as you it back fired on him and look were he is , Then we have Taylor he was ran out of town in under the required 18 months and you you already breaking down " The Internet , Lawsuits, the game plan the few guys , all that Preperation to call theose guys out and nothing?
I would say those guys are WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Hawfuh lovers...do you agree that Hawfuh can do anything he wants, regardless of the IBT constitution that he swore to abide by?

So yeah.. I agree that General President James P. Hoffa can do whatever he wants regardless and especially if it pisses you off.

I've been in 82 for a long time and always tryied to play the game straight. Elections and Trustee decisions became fodder for campaigns to improve the local. Never did I try to undermine the "captain of the ship" but exercised the right of free speach at meetings.
The old school "FIST" prevailed over "Project R.I.S.E.", jr's attempt to rid the Locals of corruption. RISE exposed the complainers and they were pummelled by the leadership loyal to jr. It then became "who do you trust".

The Hogan family takedown in Vegas echoed across the country. RISE was born from jr's desk and an Ethic's Board was later added later. Stier was appointed, acted, then was dumped.
82 had status when the Sec Treas was named National Director and a new Mass. Convetion Center opened in Boston.
Now, the executive board is looking at jail time and Freeman just bought out its weak sister Champion Expo(All American). Freeman IS the only game in town now that 25 took over local 82.
My neighbor is in a different local and he expects to be taken over soon by, you guessed it, 25. We both are scratching our head over the fact that we fought so hard for so many years for worker rights, against the company. How is it that we are being given the runaround and have to fight our Union?
Is this a stratagy from a Republicken dream come true?
PS
You can add B'z to my monica. When I first started posting, it was just Pats and before that Dixie. Some things just got better over the years. I had a cup of coffee with the Browns, Pats, & Cowboys in '71-2. Still waiting for Gonzo to come up with some ducets for the playoffs.

You might not like it, but there was no violation of the constitutuon. You need to read further in the constitution. Specifically, Article IX, Section 11 - 12, page 72.
"No vote need be conducted if a Local Union is not capable of performing its representational functions, due to its financial condition or where an emergency condition exists within the Local Union".
Essentialy, the International can determine that an emergency condition exists and avoid the membership vote. What you're going through is a forced merger...no membership vote.

Obrian has his work cut out for him. I wish him luck but puting words to action are two different things. I hope the issue of seniority is resolved where long time part-timers (specs and casuals) arn't brushed aside by the next friend of a friend.
Many felt like they were living in an episode from the Sopranos with compisty from FDC.
