Local 683 in San Diego is RAIDING our brothers at Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) in El Cajon California. Defying what Middleton, Cammack and Hoffa told them to do! These ATU members are brothers and sisters who have stood thru the struggles right alongside us TEAMSTERS and have supported Teamsters. I agree that the Teamsters need to grow, but I also believe in doing it right. We can't go around stealing members from other unions. That only defeats our purpose as a labor movement. By posting this, someone will ask how I know that the workers didn't come to the Teamsters. Well, Im an operator at this yard. We didn't go to them. The teamsters know that our contract with ATU is almost up and they want us to DECERTIFY ATU and vote the TEAMSTERS in. They have been around for months trying to plant the Teamster seed. I am a former Teamster and my 2 sons are Teamsters at UPS. We need these guys at 683 to do the right thing! What do you guys think?

So, let me get this straight. You're an operator at an ATU signatory yard, yet you claim to have knowledge that Cammack, Middleton and Hoffa have directed Teamster locals to not organize ATU members with expired contracts. You say you're a former Teamster yet you know who the current Intl VP's in your area are. My immediate thoughts are #1 you're not a Teamster so you really don't even belong here, 2nd thought is you aren't who you say you are and 3rd if their contract is expired, or nearly expired as you say, and they want representation then they have a right to vote on who they want. I'm thinking you're a former TDU teamster with an ax to grind and will attempt to portray 683 in a bad light and will probably campaign against it. If thats the case, if I'm even half right you can go **** yourself. If 683 is really trying to organize that yard like you say they are when those people are without representation then they are doing the right thing.

We need to do exactly what 683 is doing and raid everyone of their contracts. How do you think they got the contracts they have. By raiding the Teamsters Union that is how.

"I don't know Eric Tate and could frankly care less about 848 politics, but I think it is disgusting what people like your are doing with this this guys financial records. This is the kind of stuff that makes our Union look moronic. We are all about solidarity, unless of course we don't like someone politically, and then we try to absolutely kill them in every way possible. Really makes the Teamsters look dignified."

I think the noodle-nipper "FatBob" D./"union till I die", who has a hardon for Todd, is full of ****! He'll stick up for Tate and bash Todd?

Yes tshirtman, FatBob D. is an ex bigtime TDU operative. He sucked Carey then Santangello then Hoffa. When Bob D. doesn't like someone politically he'll try to absolutely kill them in every way possible. Bob D. really makes Teamsters look dignified.

Todd is everything that Bob D. wasn't, and that's a good thing.

We were represented by a State DOC Union. We needed a Union that would fight for us both legislatively and in collective bargaining. Ultimately we became Teamsters. First we were with Local 313 then there was a jurisdiction change and we became members of Local 117. Local 117 has the resources, staff, and willingness to fight for use in Olympia and at the table. I for one am thankful and proud to be a Teamster and a member of Local 117. If the brothers and sisters need help the ATU can't or isn't willing to provide, then I say it serves them right if those members vote out ATU and vote in Local 683.

I agree that its bad to raid. That said, bus yards in the bay area are not getting anything from the ATU. As a result of their failure to support their yards they are loosing them. You have to have business agents actively supporting sites. They lost San Rafael for that reason. They couldnt be bothered to represent their people. I'm a steward and I had people coming to me on the street and asking me how they could dump ATU and chage unions. I could only tell them to get on their local and demand more service. People wont change unions if they get the service they need.
