UPS got caught again lying to the county commission and state legislature over their phony reasons for using unsafe golf carts. http://www.wftv.com/...over-ups/vD65c/

These people have nothing better to complain about, I guess. My question is:

Does the golf cart operator get driver pay???

The golf cart drivers are seasonal and get $ 8.50. The work use to be done by package drivers. The Company has laid off full time drivers and replaced them with "seasonals because they believe this is some sort of " free" p
eriod that has nothing to do with peak volume increases.

Can the company work casuals with regular drivers on lay-off? If I was on lay-off and a casual was working I'd be filing for the time.

I have never heard of drivers being laid off and " temps " working in their place. If this is true , it is another attempt for UPS to save a dollar.

I know last year we had a big snow storm after Christmas and UPS wanted to use helpers because of the emergency conditions. The local agreed with the condition that all regular drivers must be working. This was after December though.

They were laid off. Copies of plenty of grievances from last year and soon this year. It happened here in Florida. The Company use to hire seasonal drivers . Last year none were hired and replaced by "helpers" driving golf carts. This year less drivers laid off but cover drivers not working because of the helpers. Drivers losing OT as the Company gives their regular route work to part time helpers in carts. UPSi spreading this system elsewhere. Now they started in Texas too.

UPS caught again by the News and county code enforcers. A month after getting caught in Seminole county their greed makes them ignore the law. No they have to appear in front of the County commission meeting . They continue to violate the law across Florida and pretend they don't know until caught .

UPS gets called to Brevard County Commission meeting to explain why they are breaking the law. County attorney informs UPS MGMT at meeting that it is a 500.00 a day fine and jail time. UPS District HR lies to Commission and gets caught and after telling the commission that all illegal deliveries will stop friday still doing it today.
The segment is about 48 minutes into the county video and ends at 1 hr 48. Go to web site listed below and click on the video cam icon for the December 1, 2011 county commission meeting
