Hey guys new to the site and new to the union, we are being asked by our local to make up our "wish list" . Does anyone have any suggestions on what besides more pay we should be asking for? our local is either not being very helpfull or maybe can not make suggestions, so I will go to the real people who do know. Thanks for your help all suggestions are appreciated.

Ask for SPD's of Benefits, Employer portion of cost/Employee portion of cost(premiums). Ask that wording be in Contract that all changes (amendments) in benefits be reported to Union prior to amending. Research "Stewards Rights" and ask your Local to give you new Steward packet with handbook. Read it again and again to educate yourself. If you have 401k, ask for "outside" administrator. Employer being "sole" administrator = BAD.
Good Luck!

Suggest that they keep on file and make available all grievance decisions and provide the grievant a copy of the closed/won grievance.
I don't know if other locals already do this but as far as I know from my shop stewards, ours doesn't.
This would be a great benefit for us at UPS because supervisors are always being moved to different posts and try to run things their way as if the hourlies don't already know what their supposed to do. When you have to file a grievance against management for something you already grieved, and won, it's ridiculous that you can't just show them the copy of the greivance you won on file and make them realize they had better back off.
And it would defiinitley save Union reps the headache of having to deal with the same grievance more than once. It's a waste of time and resources when grievances that have already been addressed and won have to be brought up again.

First I would like to say Welcome!!Hey guys new to the site and new to the union, we are being asked by our local to make up our "wish list" . Does anyone have any suggestions on what besides more pay we should be asking for? our local is either not being very helpfull or maybe can not make suggestions, so I will go to the real people who do know. I think I would start by asking yourself and fellow coworkers what things you would like improved upon in the workplace. These are your issues and concerns not ours we dont work there. Some examples could be seniority issues, bidding rights, lunch or break issues, work rules that need changed, managment doing hourly work, favortism, ect. Once again these are examples and you should list your issues that affect you, Also, the Local will need to know the things you like about your workplace so they can secure and protect those things in contract form also. A wish list is exactly what it is: things that you wish you could get. Don't be afraid to put down things that others havent mentioned because it could be something that others havent thought of. Hope this helps and good luck!
