If I wanted to shut down the port, I could do it without Occupy. I don't need 'em," says Jeff Smith, president of ILWU's Columbia River District Council. "This is a question for the Occupy movement: Why would I want to send my people home? Why would I take a job away from somebody?

"I don't get what they're thinking. It's my job to put people to work. I've got jobs for 'em, so I'm going to put 'em to work. And I'm going to take some of Wall Street's money."

With 'modern' Union leaders like this who needs enemies?

Yes if they occupied the port(s) for a day or 3, people would go without pay but are they hurting the workers more or the retailers who aren't getting their outsourced freight in time? What kind of impact would these kind of shutdowns have on the image of the 1% if they did retaliate against these shutdowns?

In the same article it is mentioned (that all of us already are aware) that the Ports have had a long running battle against non union trucks.

I see this as a missed opportunity by the Union to draw further awareness of what their grievances are and I wonder what ever became of the concept 'One for all, all for One'

well let me tell ya if a bunch of NON-UNION idiots came over and tried to block us from working ... there would be a fight ....I damn sure wouldn't let some NON-UNION idiot try to prevent me from earning pay and try to take food from my family's table ...these idiots don't want a job and i damn sure don't sympathize with lazy asses trying to prevent others trying to earn a living and getting UNION contract health and welfare benefits ... so let me get this straight xg22, your a union member and you think it's OK for SCABS to strike your company and prevent you from working?

Bankers, Billionaires "Going To Vomit" If They Keep Hearing This 1% "Crap"

Their skin is sensitive and can't withstand all that exfoliation

It's easy to get caught up in the moment and forget about those who are hurting the most this holiday season: old, rich white men, who have suffered the slings of the 99% despite being responsible for all that is good in the world. Thankfully Bloomberg News was able to track down these noble creatures to find out what they think about the legions of Americans who believe in greater income equality. "Who gives a crap about some imbecile?" 82-year-old billionaire and co-founder of Home Depot, Bernard Marcus says. "Are you kidding me?"

Home Depot's other co-founder, 76-year-old billionaire Ken Langone, loves cats and therefore doesn't mind being called one.

Fat cats should probably remember what "on the record" means when trying to rehab their image.

Leaders from Lakeview Action Coalition delivered an open letter with over 5,000 signatures collected by The New Bottom Line community to Chase Bank, demanding that CEO Jamie Dimon refuse his bonus and put that money into the community instead.

While American families struggle through the Great Recession this holiday season, the bankers that caused much of the financial crisis are set to award themselves near-record breaking bonuses. Today, The New Bottom Line in partnership with The Public Accountability Initiative, released the 2011 Big Bank Bonus Report. The report release comes on the heels of two actions last week in Minneapolis and Chicago demanding big bank CEOs to put money in communities, not their pockets.

Big banks are expected to pay out $156 billion in compensation to executives in 2011, a near record-setting number in the midst of a financial crisis that big bankers themselves caused. The 2011 numbers are 3.7 percent increase over 2010.

but the union members are losing work over this ....so don't try to say this is about the non-union workers when union families are being affected the union can make changes through collective bargaining and organizing without the help of illegal alien labor supporters ... just like we did about interlining in the National Master Freight Agreement and the supplements

...so tell me farley why are you a fan of non-union bums blocking union workers from work ... and why does your idiot protesters( that happens to be a majority non-union themselves) support open borders and believe that everybody in the world has the right to work in america illegally? and why ain't your buddies in the occupy bs down at the mexican border protesting mexican trucks coming across delivering goods all over the USA?...oooo that's right, that's part of their open borders and illegal alien's right to work policy here in AmericaPosted Image
