Here is a new one, bet no other Steward can match this..... Employer gave written warning with threat to terminate employment if Steward posts ANYTHING on walls, boards, lunchroom, Union board without prior "permission" (to which is denied anyway)
Union Members had a craft meeting at Public Library and notice was posted on lunchroom door. I posted 3 times, removed 3 times. That spot has recenly had get well cards notices posted, selling of candy for schools, Avon books in lunch room, etc...
Trying to rally the members but ooohhhh Noooo, can't post Union Business. Union bulletin board also recently moved in obscure area that's not visible from where it had been for 20 years. So..... I receive the IBT postings in the mail for election and "ask" permission to post on (obscure) Union Bulletin Board. DENIED. I was told that the Local Union Officials would determine whether or not they wanted to post. (Thats the one that we didn't receive ballots for the "Local" representative election). How in the hell can we strengthen Union Members if we cannot make them aware of notices??? Or be allowed to VOTE! Or have a voice against the employer that subdues any acknowledgement of UNION? (Previous stewards did not post - kept members in the dark)
Our CBA states: "The Company will be shown a copy and notified of all official Union bulletin board postings in advance."
No where is the word "permission" or approval required". So...... I wrote to election supervisor to ask if our membership mailing addresses are included in the list to send ballots to. You think 160+ employees should have the right to be notified of their voting rights???

sounds like you need to contact your Local Union and have them contact the election's officer.....might be a board charge here
