And he wants another stimulus pkg disguised as a "jobs" bill so he can finish paying off his big supporters. Just think about what another 4stimulus years of Obama would entail. A few more stimulus packages, another 6 trillion or so of debt, more illegals taking are jobs while his administration continues to release the one's caught, etc....
Well, he did keep his promise to pass EFCA. Wait a second, they haven't even brought it up since getting elected.
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matt 6; 33

your ginned up phony outrage might be a little more believable if you had expressed the same outrage when Cheney's Halliburton stole billions and then moved to Dubai to avoid being taxed on their ill gotten gains...or the several billion in cash that just "went missing" under CHENEY/bush in Iraq. in other words, save your foaming mouths...you are not believable, just hypocritical

Aside from the fact that the Solyndar deal started in 2008 and was a package deal (of sorts) including 3 or 4 other soloar companies that are doing just fine The FBI investigation is not centering on the Obama administration, in spite of Rep. Darrell Issa efforts to make it seem like it is. There has been testimony before Congress that the company may have intended to take the Governmnet loan with the intention of crashing it all along and pocketing the money they got from the Government..thus the FBI raid on the homes of the two top men at Solyndra. They are expected to take the 5th. today when they testify before Congress...on the advise of their attorneies who are trying to keep them out of jail!

The biggest problem with the Government loaning money is the fact that there is no real oversight done afterwards (remeber the bank bailout), and when the Governmnet does try to do oversight they are accused of trying to micro manage the concerns the money is lent to.

You guys have got to watch more C-span...this way you wouldn't have to depend on the talking heads out there to "spin" everything, you could hear it first hand for yourself. Don't get me wrong I don't blame you....This country has a lousy media NONE of them can give you the straight of anything!

Oversight? you gotta be kidding--this was a turkey to start with

You have to ask yourself Stark--why did this company need government funding? and the answer was simple it was a turkey--it was burning through cash far exceeding the ability to replace with future sales-it could not get a loan it was going bankrupt (the company was uncompetitive)

The loan had been shelved by the Bush administration because the due diligence showed the company would not survive a cash flow issue had a pricing issue and the costs were unsustainable and would long term could not survivie

it was fast-tracked just days after President Obama took office, and one of the major investors in the company is an Obama fundraiser who has visited the White House 16 times, including four meetings with such senior aides as Valerie Jarrett, Austan Goolsbee and Pete Rouse in the months prior to the loan's approval.

The loan then had to be restructured in January due to the same cash flow problems every financial team on the planet identified--and when it was restructured 75 million in private money was infused--with the promise they would be the first in line to get money or in other words the private investors would be paid back before the government

Now Stark--besides incompetence by the Obama energy department the rub is three fold for Obama

The Democrats claim that the company misrepresented its financial situation to Congress--which is a joke because of the due diligence done before the company ever got the government loan-Everyone knew this was a turkey

White House officials asked the Department of Energy to make a decision on the Solyndra loan --that puts the white house in the crosshairs--and one of the biggest private investor George Kaiser was a huge Obama fund raiser and was lobbying the white house directly--not only for funding but to put solar panels on the White House

lastly the restructuring of the loan was quasi illegal

now Stark my boyou as a card carrying member of "Corporations are evil enities" I can see how you would latch onto "pocketing the money they got from the Government" and lack of over sight (that is what the Democrats are praying the public latches onto) however you are rather missing the key issue

Why the heck did the government give them money to start with--and why was the loan restructured and the terms favorable to private investors

Now Stark--I know you ignore a lot of public information--but let me give you some financial information--

The cost of goods for Soalr panels were $6.29 per Watt and the selling price $3.42 per Watt--Now Solyndra claims they could get that cost down to $4.79 to $2.79 depending on the installation (meaning there was a slight potential for a profit on the original billion dollar investment from the investors)

However Stark the main competition First Solar and Trony Solar were making panels for under a $1.30 per Watt in 2009!!!before the price of silicon prices dropped--meaning Stark my dear boy they were never even close to being competitive on pricing against non-silicon technologies--(Solyndra main claim for investors were they were not using silicon technology)

So even if some of these evil managers somehow stuck their hand in the cookie jar--It doesn't take a genius to figure out this was a horrible investment of tax payers money--So why was the money loaned?

there is no doubt this should be a fraud investigation--the money spent on lobbyists, lawyers and consultants – all of which will turn out to be friendly Dem faces--were a large part of this loan--This loan was never meant to be productive--and we need to find the where the $660 million dollars in non production costs went

stark is correct and eggy is wrong yet again! (big surprise)...the Solyndra deal was part of a Bush initiative that began in 2007 and invilved at least 4 companies...and was a private-public investment combination...and to be investigated by someone as crooked as Issa is laughable as his past behavour and current connection to Goldman Sachs come to light...like being investigated for voter fraud by an election criminal like tom Delay...utterly laughable.

Farley--do you have a reading comprehension problem -please reread and take foot out of mouth
Pay careful attention to the economics of this company--the issue isn't which party approved the loan (though that is pretty clear) it is why it was approved based on the horrible business proposition along with the competency of the governments ability to even analyze these type loans--and the fraud is what happened with the restucturing of the loan and what happened to the 660 million in non production costs-Your too focused on the politics as usual--

but even your response is bogus--This was a 1703 loan program started in 2005--Solyndra was chosen in 2006 as was one of 16 companies reco'ed in which 12 sent in applications--and was approved under the Obama's administration (though it makes no difference to the tax payer who approved the loan) reread above response for the important questions to the taxpayers

though God knows what "invilved at least 4 companies" even means--did four other companies invest? did the loans go to 4 companies as part of the 1703 loan program--

but enough--what the heck is a a "private-public investment combination" a what?Posted Image

"Private/public" was coined some time ago (I don't know by which party) to mask the fact that "public" actually meant taxpayers. No doubt, one of the Washington think tanks came up with it since they write the bills for Congress anyway.

The fact still remains that the major heads of this company are registered Republicans....and the investigation did center on wheather or not the company lied to the Government (not Obama) to get the loan.

So, Pelosi's son-in-law has a job....big deal. Wonder just how many other Congress persons have gotten their kids and other relatives jobs.

The politics of the of this company--is irrelavant--as is most corporations--it was the money spent lobbying (550 million) and the green element of the company that became political

and the investigation is not centered on the original loan-(other than why it was approved when it was pretty obvious they had significant competitive issues)-the information on the company was public and they were actively trying to find private investors--I would guess the bulk of the investigation is around the 660 million dollars of unaccounted production costs (as in lobbying) and the loan restructure after the Energy department knew the company quasi defaulted on the loan in December---

It still comes down to unfair Trade and Labor practices.

Republicans keep on getting caught with their pants down over their Solyndra scandalmongering:

Upton has pursued two lines of argument against the administration over Solyndra. First, he says the government shouldn't pick winners and losers. Second, he says Solyndra shouldn't have been given the loan because it was a company in trouble. This news exposes the hypocrisy of both arguments—not only did he urge the government to "pick a winner," he urged it to pick a winner that was on the cusp of failure, but was in his backyard.

Fred Upton (R-Mich.), who has criticized the administration for its failed loan guarantee to the firm Solyndra, urged the Energy Department to approve funding assistance for a Michigan solar company that said last week it is halting operations.

But prospects remain difficult. It has become tough for U.S. solar companies to survive competition from other countries, especially China,

http://www.washingto...ss=rss_business

Before Solyndra, a long history of failed government energy projects

George W. Bush had his own pet projects. In 2003 he called for “a new national commitment” to work toward hydrogen-powered vehicles so that “our scientists and engineers will overcome obstacles to taking these cars from laboratory to showroom.”

But on the road to the showroom, the hydrogen car made a wrong turn. From 2004 through 2008, the federal government poured $1.2 billion into hydrogen vehicle projects.

They died in development.

keep complaining about free trade but keep endorsing free traders like obama Posted Image

and don't forget solyndra was a NON-UNION DEMOCRAT company

... AND now you see why the federal government should not be in the business of loaning money ... if these types of businesses are profitable ...let the private sector start this stuff up themselves and if they fail then let 'em fail .... the feds are corrupt ...... politicians take political donations and then turn around and give out loans as payback .... the private banks wouldn't have gave these loans out because of the risk ....

let's get the government out this bs green jobs crap ....let the private sector make or break it and let the private sector drill drill drill and let our coal miner's union brothers keep their jobs
