I am currently in the process of making some improvements to the website. Of course no matter how technically well it works there are other issues such as the dialog and angst that bring the site down.

What I am asking is for everyone to reply with what they think is wrong with TeamsterNet. It would be even better if suggestions came along with the criticism but we need to know what is broke before it can be fixed.

Please, post a reply with what is wrong and don't hold back.

On another note, Happy Labor Day!

My personal opinion.....nothing. Teamsternet keeps getting better and better.

Keep up the good work.

1. Its too easy to come here and post lies and slander about anybody you want. There is no standard of authenticity.
2. Its too easy to create more than one acct
3. People who arent even Teamsters and have no business reading about our struggles and infighting can have an acct. They can, will and do use that info against us.

Too many people come here only to stir up trouble and slander this great Teamster Union.

Every thread has turned into a smack talk, any topic not in smack talk should be heavily moderated, no profanity, name calling etc

Only registered users with seniority should be allowed into see smack talk seeing its not for the weak stomach.

Anyone that posts constant nonsense without ever taking the time to help a fellow Teamster or this Union should have their account banned for GOOD! No more screw this guy or that guy without manning up and helping each other.

More info on organizing drives across the country so that members can be aware and help.

We will not always agree on issues, especially during election times, but we need to do it respectfully. We MUST agree to disagree while still being Brothers and Sisters.

Too much posted anonymously without being held accountable. Posters should be required to be up front as to who they are.

When someone posts false information and lies they continue to post and go on like nothing happened in a cowardly fashion. Unfortunately some that come on here have no interest in helping our union and your site has gotten a bad rap. Lots of members no longer come on because it is so negative.

Have discussions in a positive and progressive front to help our union grow.

Your site is nationally known, yet it has a very bad stigma of negativity. Some of us have tried to remain positive, only being attacked and outright lied about. There is a distinct difference between someone misunderstanding the facts and purposely spreading information that isn't true. It is sad that your forum has been used that way.

Find a way to reach out to non union workers thru your site, helping them understand that being a Teamster is positive in many respects.

Your site has great potential, everyone for the most part knows about it. It has been branded as a slaughter house politically. If you can turn the corner on that it could be an incredible resource.

Create forums that are specific to issues in our union for communication. As an example when a contract has been ratified or a labor dispute happens a forum is created to foster the information and it stays focused. Or post organizing victories regionally or locally but keep the discussion on subject.

If people have to talk shit do it in a forum where there is balance and both sides debate their issues with a moderator.

This site is a lot of work, and I applaud you being open to ideas. These ideas only create more work for you as well. If you need help with any of these ideas, the guy that moderates my site will be more than happy to assist.

Yes just the fact anyone can make an account and post personal information about a member, steward or local official. It is pretty much chicken shit if you are not man enough to claim your what you post.

The question is: Is Teamsters.net helping the Teamsters or the unionbusters?

We should talk about the Guest Workers on Wheels program or the fact that the economy is crashing in Asia but I don't see that anywhere. They will scapegoat unions. If we can make it through 2013 stronger than before then it is victory.

We are at war right now.

I know some of these suggestions are more work for moderators but 1.) flag potential union busters and oust them 2.) put inflammatory comments in smack talk. too many things are just plain smack talk 3.) flag vicious comments, such as ones that bring people's children into the discussion then delete them

Thank you

These are some great suggestions and comments. I like the tone of this string. Yes, it would be very beneficial to labor if Teamster.net were to move in the direction of clearly being an asset rather than a liability to the labor movement. Thank you Phil for your comments. Your presence is very instrumental in setting the tone.

Bring VJ back. He was very knowledgeable and credible and always
knew how to put those who cuased the most disruption in there place.
I think the changes you are making are great. Moderation could be steped up but as you know that always leads to accusations of singling out and favoritism.
It will take time to attract more members which I believe will happen.

Just a Thought... When A topic has started, and since shown its end, can you erase/delete that topic. One comes to mind; TOM KEEGEL DUMPS HOFFA. The originator mixed some facts with "lots" of speculation and since the topic's origination, it has since run its course. To reiterate some of the posting... Best Wishes Brother Keegel! Many thanks from a grateful membership!

I have found that the best way to deal with some of these negative posters is to just ignore them. When they see they dont have and audience anymore they usually drift off somewhere else....

I don't know how this can be done but I think, maybe, x out a letter or two from people's full names. Do you guys think it is okay to use people's full names?

Teamsters.net should not be used as ammunition for union busters. You can put in a * or something, we all know whose who. I see way too much extortion happening and it ain't cool. People should be protected. 'x' out a letter or two....that's it.
