Here is the verse from today, I really love it, and it is how I have always lived my life...
"Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked."
Psalm 82:3-4
In school as a child I always stopped the school bullies from picking on the smaller and weaker kids, and I would not let the guys hurt the girls, etc, and later as an adult I stopped the husbands of women friends from beating them up, and more recently I stopped my neighbor's ex-husband from coming here to her apartment and abusing her, and I have always done charity work since I was a little kid, etc, and I will continue to help the weak and fatherless, and try to help the poor and oppressed, and I will try to help the weak and the needy, and deliver them from the hand of the wicked. It is part of what being a Christian is all about. I have a lot of other cool stories too, but I will keep this short.
And here is the bible verse from yesterday...
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)
When you live the way that God wants you to live, and when you are honest, and when you do not lie, and when you do not steal, etc etc etc, and when you are a good person, then you are the kind of person who people want to have as a friend, and you are the kind of person who employers want to hire, and you are the kind of person who investors want to invest money in, etc etc etc, and you will be successful, and you will be a shining light in the world, and when a whole city of people live the way that God wants us to live then it is a shining and successful city.

"Shall I not inform you of a better act than fasting, alms, and prayers? Making peace between one another: enmity and malice tear up heavenly rewards by the roots."

When people are true Christians, and when they are not only concerned with making money, then they want to pay people fair and they want to treat people well. And like a true Christian will not make a starving girl suck his dick for twenty dollars so she can eat, a true Christian will give the starving girl twenty dollars and expect nothing in return and tell her to help someone else someday when she gets ahead and has the opportunity.
The reason that the world economy is getting worse and worse is because of greed, and because many people today are not good Christians.
And there are many things which must be done to change the current situation in China, and to bring freedom, democracy, and good human rights, and fair pay and good treatment, to the people of China, and as the situation in China improves the entire world economy will improve.
The whole world would improve if more corporate leaders and world leaders, and if more people of the world, were good Christians.

In psychology class in college when they teach you about conditioning, they teach you about rewarding people for doing good things in order to get them to continue doing good things, which is called positive reinforcement, and about punishing people for doing bad things in order to stop them from doing bad things, which is called negative reinforcement, but the thing with me is that I was never rewarded for doing good, and sometimes I felt like I was being punished just for being born, but I kept doing good anyway, and it is because I was raised with a good Christian foundation, my Christian foundation was stronger than all of the hard times I went through, and instead of my rewards being here on earth, my reward will be in heaven when I die, it is between me and God, not between me and man. My Christian foundation was stronger than any conditioning I went through, the positive and negative reinforcement meant nothing, the hard times did not condition me to become a criminal or a bitter person, I walk through life today with the same Christian foundation that my mother made sure that I had as a child, and I still do good even though I have never really been rewarded for doing good or conditioned to do good. And it was not due to what my father taught me, as my father died when I was a child, so I did not have my father to reward me for doing good or to punish me when I did wrong, and to teach me, and then my mother was always gone working as she was a widow with three children to raise and we were never on welfare or foodstamps or anything, and then I had step fathers who were abusive assholes who meant nothing to me, so the thing that saved me and guided me through life was my Christian foundation that my mother made sure that I had as a child, and my Christian foundation was stronger than anything I have went through in life.
Here is a nice invocation...
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; be honest and frank anyway.
When you spend years building, someone could destroy it overnight;build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; be good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; give the world the best you have anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
— Matthew 7:12 (NIV)
Thoughts on Today's Verse..
.
Ah! The "Golden Rule" is so straightforward, isn't it? Sometimes we make things, especially religious things, far too complicated and complex. I love the Bible because it is so often practical and plain when God deals with our behavior. You want to know how to treat someone? Then do for them what would be a blessing if it was done to you! If it wouldn't bless, encourage, build up, support, comfort, or help you, then don't do it to them. If it would hurt, wound, depress, spite, or discourage you, then don't do it to them. Treat others with the same dignity, kindness, love, respect, and tenderness with which you would like to be treated. Simple to understand; revolutionary to do!
My Prayer...
Almighty God, thank you for making some things so simple to understand. Please fill my heart with your love as I try to live the "Golden Rule" in my relationships. In the name of the Lord Jesus I pray. Amen.

"A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed."
— Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)
Thoughts on Today's Verse...
God is a giving and generous God. He longs for his children to be like him in this grace. Our place on earth is not to be hoarders or collectors of blessing, forgiveness, wealth, and opportunity. No, following the lead of our Eternal Father, we are to be conduits of blessing, forgiveness, wealth, and opportunity. As we are generous like God, we trust that he will in turn make sure we are blessed and refreshed in the ways that will draw us more and more into his character and more able to help others in the future.
My Prayer...
Holy God, I thank you for all the great examples of generosity that have graced my life. Whether rich or poor, these conduits of your grace have taught me that I, too, can be more like you in this way. Bless my heart with trust and faith as I seek to be more generous with others in my grace, forgiveness, finances, encouragement, and time. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

"Every gun that is made, Every warship launched, Every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a THEFT from those who HUNGER AND ARE NOT FED, those who are COLD AND ARE NOT CLOTHED"

""War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."

“We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry [hypocrisy] would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” - John Adams
"If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity." -Daniel Webster
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are a gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever." - Thomas Jefferson
"We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that 'except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that built it.' I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel." - Benjamin Franklin
"It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the Providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits and to humbly implore His protection and favor." -George Washington
"This is all the inheritance I give to my dear family. The religion of Christ will give them one which will make then rich indeed." - Patrick Henry
"I have a tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy. Pray for me." - Alexander Hamilton
"Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon the teachings of the Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent, our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian." - U.S. Supreme Court

I am not an Indian but love the following also:
An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life...
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?"
The old chief simply replied,
"The one you feed."

— Psalm 34:17-19 —
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all...
__________________________
We often wish we could escape troubles — the pain of grief, loss, sorrow and failure, or even the small daily frustrations that constantly wear us down. God promises to be "close to the brokenhearted," to be our source of power, courage and wisdom, helping us through our problems. Sometimes he chooses to deliver us from those problems. When trouble strikes, don't get frustrated with God. Instead, admit that you need God's help and thank him for being by your side.
