So I have to ask, what is http://www.browncafe.com doing that we are not?

I don't run ads, we censor ONLY when we have to and I get sued because I don't reveal posters identities.

What do we have to do to get UPS'ers over here? I'm more than open to suggestions and I would love it if you had any.

The site reflects those who visit. It's not up to me to decide who the visitors should or should not like.

The propaganda is at the main Teamsters site or TDU.

Please post your suggestions.

Phil, you are looking for UPS Teamsters and in all realitty, there are not that many, at least not on Teamster forums. You have a good group of Teamser members on that site, but the majority of the others are only union when its right for them. That is it in a nut shell, im afraid to tell you. You add in all the management posters and CERTAIN MODS who can never do any wrong and they chase union minded people away.

Spend some time reading the threads, theres one right now were a UPS driver double parked in a handicap spot and they are calling for him to be fired, yes other Teamster members say he should be fired, WTF!!!!

Its nothing more than a melting pot of employees from a company who would rather talk about work outside of work with no real content being discussed. Now I have met some really wonderful people through that site and so have so many others that they mingle there in chat forums and talk, they have had fantasy Football leagues etc.

Many people including myself do not like coming to this site because so much hate is spread. As a Teamster and a father when im online, I never know when my kids will sneak up behind me and I dont want them reading many of the words typed by posters on this site. Not to mention as a Teamster this site hurts us on organizing drives and when people want to research the Teamsters, they are brought here by sites like Google and Bing. Would you really want to join a union that sounds this FUCKED up?

I am and it is time to get better. The one thing that I have a problem doing is deleting posts.

As for organizing, I don't see any effect. We (Local 624) have continued to organize and the subject has not come up once. That being said some of the national campaigns it may be on the radar but if this is the reason for losing a campaign one of two things are wrong. 1. The workers don't want to organize or 2. There is a larger problem with the campaign.

I am at a point where I really want to make the site better and I understand that doing a better job of moderating is a big part of that despite my aversion to deleting posts.

As for UPS'ers, I think that most of the members at UPS get a bad rap. Yes, there is a tendency for some UPS'ers to only care about UPS but in my experience it is no more and no less than other members at other companies. UPS'ers on the other hand work as hard or harder than anyone else in the Union. They are a credit to themselves and the Union. What many members have a hard time hearing is that if you want to be paid the best you need to be the best (Smartest, safest, most efficient). I often use UPS members as an example of this to other units. In the end most people are driven by self-interest so as a Union we need to do a better job showing our members that it is in their self-interest to be an active part of a strong Union.

I'm going to start a new topic in TeamsterTalk about what is wrong with TNet, please reply with an frank assessment of what you think is wrong and what I or we can do to fix it.

My suggestion: Park in handicap spots if big brown pays the tickets. If they no pay the tickets we no parkie in the spots.

Phil,
The up grade to the site I believe will help a lot.
Now there are some on here who get a little crazy at times but I don't believe it's that much worse here to comparable sites. Now I would agree that at one time it was pretty bad but you added moderators which has cut back on a lot of it, but hasn't eliminated it. Also, this site isn't pro Hoffa, it has it's share of those who support one side or the other.
But I guess we just gotta stay on top of things and keep the site headed in the right direction. And I really believe the up-grades will make it more attractive.
