RIP Steve Pocztowski
Brothers and Sisters, it pains me to pass on this very sad news. Brother Steve passed away today while leaving the Delegate convention in Vegas. Brother Steve was there as a canidate for VP of the central region of the IBT. Where he was nominated and his name was placed on the ballot for the election later this year.
This was a very proud moment for him personally, but also his wife and 2 young sons, along with all the employees at local 705 as well as all of the members. I take this loss very hard as not only was he our principal officer but also a dear friend. I was hoping the whole country could share the experiences we here in our local have had under his leadership. This is a sad day to be a Teamster. We have lost a GREAT Brother.
Steve you will be missed and thank you for holding true to your word when you ran for local office by always putting the members first. Rip Brother, Rip.
RIP Steve Pocztowski

Why would you come to this site looking for confirmation? This site lost its credible Teamster talk and is now nothing more than a trash talking site that actually hrts Teamsters. I would believe the Brownave before anything on this site! IMO
And Yes Brother Steve has passed and will be missed greatly!

He definately gave it all he had. I was able to talk with him a few times the past week and he was very easy to talk to. He didn't care who you were or what title you did or didn't carry before talking to you. Sad when someone you talk with only a few days ago is gone. RIP

I want to send my regards to Pocztowski's family. And though I didn't agree with his politics and had the chance to speak to him a few times I will say that he was by far the most democratic old guard Teamster I ever met. He was one of the few democrats that gave the opposition delegate seats to not only save his local money but to also represent a large reform constituency in his local. If the rest of the old guard was like Pocztowski this union would be united.
Rest in peace brother Pocztowski.

He had a young family, wasn't very old. The stress of representing the members takes it's toll. He was at the Convention shortly after he had stints surgically implanted, probably should have been home, but made the trip. For those that love the members and the union, this is what we do. God bless and help his family.
