[Mr. 848]

Hundreds of Teamster Women stand together in protest against Jim Santangelo's presence at the Teamster Convention. Back in 2009, Santangelo settled a sexual harassment lawsuit for the amount of $500,000.00. A Teamster sister claimed she was discharged in retaliation for refusing Santangelo's sexual advances. In October 2009, Santangelo resigned from all three of his elected positions, and he also resigned his Teamster membership. After his resignation, solid proof surfaced that Santangelo was secretly recording women in his office performing sexual favors, and showing the videos to his employees. He did not have the consent of any woman to video record them, or to show the video to anyone else.

Santangelo has came out in the open in support of Fred Gegare for General President, and is an attendee at this year's Teamster Convention.

Santangelo's presence has generated a whole lot of anger from not only the women, but also the men. A lot of Teamsters bring their wives and daughters to the convention and do not feel comfortable with someone like Santangelo who has a very inappropriate past and reputation.

Do not worry about all of the Teamster Women, today they made all of us proud. They united together in solidarity to protest against Jim Santangelo's attendance at this year's convention. These proud Teamster women want to send Santangelo a message to stay away from Teamster events for all of the horrible things he has done to so many people, and the fact that he is no longer a Teamster.

Eric Tate, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 848 continues to allow Santangelo to attend local 848 functions. To this day, the Local 848 members have been lied to about why Santangelo resigned, and how Eric was appointed to his current position.

Personal message to Santangelo, get on a plane and go back home to Kathy. We do not want you here.

Labor unions played a major role towards the creation and implementation of Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It is no secret, that women have been discriminated against in so many ways throughout the centuries. Society had adopted a belief that women had to play a submissive role in the workplace. I am proud to say that labor unions like the Teamsters challenged that belief.

In my opinion, Jim Santangelo shitted on every single principle and tenet that the International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded upon. We have taken an oath to protect others who are incapable of protecting themselves. I believe what Gloria Corral accused Santangelo of doing, and I feel that it was horrrible that she lost her Teamster job for refusing Santangelo's sexual advances. I though I knew Jim personally, but now I know i did not. What kind of person would video record women in his office without their consent, and then play these recordings for other employees in the office?

Why is he at the convention? All of us are proud of all of the Teamster women who protested against Santangelo yesterday. Today is the day that the men will stand with the women to demonstrate against all of the wrongdoing Santangelo has done against Teamsters, women, and people.

That, Brother, is indeed the question...Why is Santangelo allowed to be there?? His behavior was attrocious and allowing him to be at our - the rank & file members - convention says that we - the rank & file members condoned his behaviour. None of us were asked if we wanted him there, none of us do want him there. We don't want him at the 848 meetings. I hope we get word from 'Vegas today that Santangelo has been asked to leave. If Gegare or Pope really want to be GP, then they should man up and get Santangelo removed from the convention. Period.

if Hoffa and Hall wanted him gone all they need to do is have hotel security caled and he would be out in only mintues. It is there call to make not Gregere or Pope. Hoffa and Hall are the ones to make the call. So why haven't they called security and had him removed ?

You can add Dale Robbins/LU315 and Jim Tobin/LU150 to that list of Teamster Officials who should have been embarassed to show their faces at the convention because of their treatment of women. Great job ladies of the Teamsters Union for standing up and demanding the respect and dignity you deserve.

I am not defending Jim and not really concerned how much he gets beat up for hanging around when we all know he should go away. I personally got in his ass several times over the week and made him look stupid. Kinda funny that I used to do that with him, now he's on the other side of it and that's exactly what I told him. Sad but true.
