Carey was found GUILTY of benefitting from embezzeled IBT and DRIVE funds to finance his 1996 campaign...Carey went to federal court to try to get his lifetime ban vacated, and he LOST again and the ban was left in place. What you toodleoo goons get confused about is a seperate case brought concerning Carey's perjury.....this was a poorly prosecuted case because of the sensative nature regarding the guilt of various high ranking democrats like Harold Ickeys.....and Carey was found "not proven" and the case was dismissed....but again brown this was different and seperate from the embezzelment and laundering of IBT and DRIVE funds case that cost Carey his office, his membership, but unfortunately, not his 6 or 7 pensions.

As was pointed out to me by a Hoffa supporter earlier, wikipedia is not reliable. Your not allowed to use wikipedia in most classrooms, becuase the teachers apparently have problems with it. Maybe the fact that anyone can post anything on there. So, if you are using wikipedia as a source, try again, you fail.

Any good school teacher would tell you that the Bible isn't reliable. Like the (translated) Bible, Wikipedia is a work in progress. The difference is that the staff at Wikipedia responds to criticism and appreciates and uses substantive input. Hoffa supporters would prefer to rewrite encyclopedias.

wikipedia can be and is often manipulated...and therefore is unreliable....right wing think tanks have rooms of interns whose job is to re-write history on wikipedia, specifically demeaning labor and people like FDR, while elevating people like Reagan and Bush....toodleoo likely has done the same thing to elevate their employer funded Teamster Destruction Unit (TDU) and to try to absolve Carey from his crimes and incompetence.....but the fact remains that Carey was found to have benefitted from the embezzlement and laundering of IBT and DRIVE funds and was banned for life. Carey went to court to get that sanction removed...and federal court affirmed the finding and Carey remained banned for life! No amount of toodleoo re-writing will change that...no amount of purposefully confusing the perjury case with the embezzlement case will change that FACT.....and I would suggest anyone interested should read Carey testimony in the Local 804 pension embezzlement case where Carey ratted John Long and compare it to Carey's testimony in the 1996 election embezzlement case against him. Ron Carey was guilty bro ... don't even think you can get around this ... it's not worth the time any more and the more you speak of this, the harder it is for your cause. His signature (Yes, Ron Carey's Signature) was on the check that was directly related to the embezzlement of union funds for the Carey '96 Campaign. Plain and simple ... and mark my words ... nobody can get out from under the grasp of an extensive IRB investigation ... nobody! Blaming TDU for losing a million members? TDU gave our union the biggest---I repeat---- biggest ever union victory in the last 40 years. Ever hear of the nationwide UPS strike in 1997? Carey took on UPS. Hoffa has never done that. Hoffa rolls over for UPS.
Carey was banned, but when the government took Carey in front a jury, and presented it's case, the jury aquitted Carey on all-----repeat----- all charges. The government couldn't believe that, so they left the lifetime ban in place. But know this, when Carey finally got his day in court, he was found NOT GUILTY.
