Rather surprised that, after the events of the last couple of days, there isn't an ongoing discussion concerning the status of YRCW and Allied. I would have thought that recent events would have made such a topic one of massive interest to Teamsters generally, let alone those affected most directly.
Is this a discussion no one wants to talk about and, by way of denial, thinks better off swept under the rug or what? Curious.

YRC staying in business is a double edged sword. If Hoffa didn't do all he could to help them survive he would have been accused as being the one who drove them out of business. Keeping YRC and their poor business model alive makes it harder for the rest of the freight world to survive and is making for a rough road at all other freight companies-union or not. The reality of it is that YRC has a $10/hr advantage over ABF right now and is still having trouble staying afloat. They have somewhat of an advantage over the non-union freight companies as well but it varies from company to company and it is hard to figure out exactly what that advantage is with the differences in health care costs at the other companies and they all have different levels of contributions in a 401K. UPS Freight has some sort of company pension plan as well. Whatever happens at YRC it is painful to a lot of people.
