As I understand it the Election Judge has two sets of rules to make sure TDU candidates are deemed eligible to run for election.

Recently, a Local has been required to "allow" a person to run for Delegate who did not receive a second to their nomination. In this case the person turned in written nominations and an acceptance. The Local asked the person to review all their paperwork which they did. The member attended the nominations meeting. During the meeting the nominations and the acceptance which had been verified by the member were read into the record per the election "rules". After the meeting it was pointed out to the member what was turned in was a nomination by the same person twice (no second) and an acceptance. Therefore, there was a white ballot at the meeting according to the election rules.

The member filed a protest.

The Election Supervisor declared a white ballot.

The member appealed the decision of the Election Supervisor.

The member won the appeal. Now an election is being held. The Local didn't violate the election rules. I wonder if a Hoffa or Gegare Delegate made the same mistake would the Election Judge be so nice?

I heard about it this morning from a friend of mine in Seattle. To be honest I didn't ask "which Local was it". I will find out and clarify my original post.

Any interested party not satisfied with this determination may request a hearing before the Election Appeals Master within two (2) working days of receipt of this decision.

There you go. Request a hearing or shut up.

As I'm not a member of this Local that would be hard for me to do. I do think it's an interesting story. How do you feel about a Delegate running for election who wasn't nominated per the established rules and inserted by the Election Judge?

This is typical of the election office and the election judge. Local 631 in Las Vegas has had many protests filed almost all thrown out by the inept election supervisor. The protests were legitimate but didn't favor the TDU candidates. It is a joke.

Funny thing, I heard it from an uncle who heard it from his daughter who had a friend in the union who told it to her that she said it was all a sham.
