On May 1, 1886,the American Federation of Labor, declared a national strike to demand an eight-hour-work day, and 350,000 workers across the USA responded. Chicago in particular was paralyed. Over the next several days, police shot many workers, killing some and wounding many more. Later, eight workers were sentenced to death!

The Haymarket rally and subsequent police repression, led to the arrest and conviction of 8 strike leaders for their Anarcho-Syndicalist politics. August Spies was the most prominent leader jailed for his pro-union ideas.

The movement for the 8 hour day in America created May 1st as International Workers Day, May Day.

This history isn't really celebrated in America today.

I want to know how a working person can support any goBP candidate considering their love of out sourcing American jobs, their hatred and hostility toward Labor Unions, their love of open borders, free trade and exploiting undocumented workers at the expense of Americans (contrary to their fear and hatred rhetoric). and their (the goBP's) support of deregulated financial markets and borrowing money from China to provide the extrteme wealthy with tax breaks that must be paid back by the dwindling middle class.

Sorry, the GOP has done everything in its power to bring down middle class workers in this country! They expect you to educate your children, provied your own health insurance, provide your own retirement, pay for all your own health care....all on wages that they want to be in line with that of third world countries!

www.wegoted.com/ Here's a guy that sticks up for labor and he doesn't kiss the Democrats asses he's taken on Obama on more than one occassion!

to expect Old Bama to clean up 30 years of goBPer mess in less than two years is ridiculous, especially when Old Bama is still going down some of those same wrong headed corporate roads Between Reagan and CHENEY/JimBeam/bush, they generated more debt that all the rest of the presidents combined! and spending, how about our defense budget that excedes the rest of the world combined...and now you have goBPer Simpson blaming the debt on wounded soldiers using medical resources....has the goBP no shame?

Saying a lie enough must make it true, right?

What the hell kind of website is that? And that little blurb doesn't have any facts or anything that would come close to actual journalism.

Does that number include the money Bush's regime handed over to AIG? Bush's TARP plan that didn't hold executives accountable?

I blame this recession as much on Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, as Clinton (see NAFTA and 1999 Banking Deregulation particularly). Neo-liberal Chicago school supply side economics only work for the rich. 'Free' Trade only works for multinational corporations.

well since you don't like that one .....how about this one

http://www.news10.ne...d=94599&catid=2

Senator Obama voted for TARP...the one you describe as Bush's TARP plan ...i counted only 9 democrat senators that voted against TARP...guess the (yea) democrat voters are part of the Bush regime? oops that includes John Kerry and Kerry voted for NAFTA and for 1999 banking deregulation too.

http://www.govtrack....?vote=s2008-213

this is how the house voted

http://clerk.house.g...008/roll681.xml

lot of democrats that were part of the Bush regime

dockman, I don't get your reference to my father, by the way, my father , a WWII veteran, is dead, so I don't understand how he can be contributing to the debt. and facts are stubborn things...so the reichwing media just makes up new facts that fit their narritive......fortunately people are getting wise to the lies.

Wow I would have thought a Jesuit educated man like you would have at least looked at the details of how this site got the calulations they have used to draw their conclusions

however this should tell you all you need to know

"This means that all of the money spent to restore the economy, until it is restored, is also attributable to George W. Bush." "Further, with our interest payments on the current debt at almost half a trillion dollars per year, that amount will be attributed to Borrow-And-Spend Republicanism as well."

and we should waste our time with this site why--because it appears to match your views with false figures--You can do better Farley

docky and eggy. you know you are being dishonest when you mention that I am any type of Old Bama supporter, but then you can only comprehend "for or agaisnt" in your rightwing addled brains. The stubborn fact remains that Reagan and GW CHENEY/JimBeam/bush were/are responsible for MORE national debt than the rest of the presidents combinesd, and the tea baggers have even started blaming Old Bama for the bush paulson bailout that greatly increased the debt at the end of the CHENEY/JimBeam/bush regime. Old Bama has failed in that he ,like CHENEY/bush/ has failed to address the lopsided trade structure between China and the good ole US of A, as well as China's currenct manipulation...about the only thing we export to China is technology and jobs.
