Teamsters Local 631 Secretary Treasurer John Phillipenas is starting to realize that his term of office is half over and there is no way he is going to win another election. Of course he is blaming everyone for HIS mistakes from the prior administration to his own President. Fact is he is a clown who acts more like management than a Teamster. According to one of his executive board members and two business agents John plans on filing internal executive board charges against anyone who runs against him or is a threat to run against him. He and Kevin Hardisons plan is to have members who are THEIR supporters to file charges against these members so the charges can be heard in front of their executive board (more like a kangaroo court) and give decisions that would make candidates ineligable to run. NOW THATS UNION DEMOCRACY AT ITS BEST!

Actually thats John at his best! He and Kevin cheated to win the last election by using a membership roster to call members from Kevins home.They received the list from Sparky via one of the office girls. So why would this surprise anyone? The only way he could stay in office is by ruling all his competion ineligable. His excuses of "its the prior regime fault" is old and the members dont buy it any more.

I went to a gathering of Teamsters today to listen to ideas that some of the members have on putting together a slate to get rid of John Philipenas and his crew. I learned alot of things about John and the Embarassment Slate that I did not know. John Philipenas is the first ST that Local 631 has had that doesnt negotiate contracts for our members. He hired the former Labor manager of Republic Services (who fired hundreds of Teamsters) to negotiate test site contracts. His clueless 24 year old in house attorney (who cant pass the Nevada State Bar) from Ohio is negotiating some also. John did negotiate a contract for the office girls freezing their pay and pension because he says they make too much.

The mail came today. More doom and gloom for the 631 health plan. Again Penis addresses the membership with more excuses for his failures. He says that with loss of contributions ans raising costs along with new regulations they have to make more changes to the plan. I wonder what will be next, eliminate wellness care, double or triple co-pays, new caps on benefits, or maybe the member will have to pay for his dependant coverage. Face facts Penis and Crack Head have squandered our fund in just 18 months. We will not have a health plan in a year from now at the rate we are heading. You say Penis hasn't negotiated a contract you are right and thank God for that. Even though every contract that has been negotiated since he took office has been sub-standard and concessionary can you imagine what would have happened if he had gone head to head with the employers. Now he has found an idiot to file charges against Bill Brown for something he claims happened 4 years ago why? Because and only because Bill Brown has come out and said he is going to run against the Crackhead and Penis. Could he win, who knows looks like anyone could beat these clowns. Isn't that what the Crackhead filed a federal suit against the Local for bringing charges against him for running for office. But its OK for him to do it right? Empowerment my ass. Penis came from UPS management and he acts like a UPS manager he doesn't know any better.
They have to take care of their 24 year old attorney he is part of the deal they cut with John Masters their last attorney. Lets talk about him Kevin (crack head) Hardison runs for office on Frank Incandela's ticket, they have an attorney named John Masters out of Ohio. Then Frank Incandela gets charged by the IRB and John Masters shows up as his attorney, at the same time Kevin (Crack Head) Hardison sues the Local in Federal court his attorney is John Masters out of Ohio. Now remember Crack Head is broke has no money (bankrupt) and Master travels from Ohio for hearings etc. Who paid for all of this? The answer is simple nobody at the time. John Masters was promised a job as the locals attorney when Crack Head and Penis got elected. Guess what happens next they hire Masters as soon as they are elected and pay him over 1/4 of a million dollars in just a few months for doing nothing. No negotiations, no arbitration's, no nothing. When members ask to see the attorney bills Penis denies their request only saying he was paid a retainer. Hell of a retainer right. When these two clowns ran for office they campaigned on the fact that the Locals attorneys were not licensed in Nevada and they would change that, remember. John Masters was and is not licensed in Nevada and neither is their 24 year old so called attorney. Where is the IRB now are you telling me they can't follow this money chain. What a Joke

The letter isn't from the Local it is from Southwest from the trustees. It doesn't say what they are cutting it says they are going to make adjustments to the plan. It is definitely laying the ground work for major cuts. It says they are going to keep us in coverage for catastrophic medical events. You have to read between the lines on this one. What does it mean when they say you will have coverage for catastrophic things in one breath and they are making adjustments in the next. I will tell you what it means, we are fixing to get screwed and screwed good. It also says there will be more letters to come in the near future. I can't wait. This is not unlike Penis at all. He doesn't have the balls to tell us straight up whats going on he will pussy foot around until the last minuet and drop the bomb on us like he did with the eye care. I hope these members remember it isn't Penis alone it also Gonzalez and Crack Head (Hardison) that are to blame for this one and they are all squirming. Well the cats out of the bag. Donnie Whiner couldn't keep his mouth shut he had to spill his guts. According to Whiner the members will get a letter on September 1st telling them that the Health and Welfare has been cut to major medical only. no more doctor visits, no more wellness care, no more routine procedures. Just major medical in other words if your not in the hospital to fricking bad your not covered. When is enough, enough. Why didn't Penis and Crack Head put their intentions in the letter that was sent out this week. Why are they trying to wait until September 1st to let us know what they already decided to do to us. Is this empowerment. Empowerment for who? is it surprising that Donnie Whiner spilled the beans on whats happening, I think not he is doing what he always does covering his own ass. He knows the ship is sinking and he is just bailing water hoping to come out on top. The membership got the change they asked for and it sucks.

Attn all 631 members. While your benefits are being slashed, one must wonder if J. Phillipenas even gives a shit!!!! Probably not. Does anyone know what kind of insurance J. Philapenas has? Well if you said that great UPS insurance you are correct. That's because J. Philapenas's wife is retired from UPS so he still gets that great coverage while the members get screwed by him and Hardison. Also J. Phillipenas is an ex-part time supervisor at UPS but i'm sure most of you knew that already by the way he is fucking the working man just like management people do all the time. That makes perfect sense. John dont care because he can retire with UPS insurance. So far John and Kevin have told so many storys about their Health Insurance mistakes I think they lost track of what they told to whom. They told the Convention members it was loss of hours, Southwest Admin, Jim Hoffa, Jim Santangelo and rising health care cost. They told construction and Ready-Mix that it was Wayne King and the prior admin fault. They told Republic that they have too many kids and its the convention workers fault because they all take too may pills. They told test-site members it was Wayne and Tommys fault. Now they send out a mailer and ITS OBAMA's fault!

The funny thing is Kermit the Republic Services BA is telling members he and Kevin are taking John out, Donnie Weenie is telling people they are taking Kevin out, and two ba's are retiring because John is such an asshole. John wants to hire more business agents so he can get more vote.

By the way the election is next year not 2013.

I have been reading the posts of the members of Local 631. Obviously your local has suffered the affects of what TDU can do to a Local. TDU promises everything to the membership to get votes and then destroy the local after they get elected. Thats what happens when people who have no clue or experience get elected into Local Union office. A word of advice to the use of your fellow members names in posts. I wouldnt do it they are not the ones in office that are destroying your local. Just a thought. Get involved, find someone to put together a slate to take your union back.

You are absolutey correct save631. The election is at the end of 2011 my mistake. You are also correct in saying these guys lie and tell bullshit stories to anyone who will listen to them. It is sad that the members do not educate themselves and research all the lies. These guys should have never been elected in the first place. I'm sure anyone who gets their H&W from the union and voted for these clowns is regreting it.

Prior too notifying the membership a couple months ago that their insurance was being changed they gave "insider" information to all their buddies two weeks in advance. Not only did every officer, business agent, and office girl know about the changes but they also told their family members and buddies in the Convention industry. All of these individuals had the opurtunity to use their vision and dental benefits before they were canceled while the rest of us were left in the dark. I have called out to the Department of Labor. A full audit will show this to be true.

It is obvious that Penis was lying when he told the membership that this was an emergency action to cancel benefits. He claims that the fund lost money 9 out of the last 12 months. If that is the case there was no emergency when he knew he was in trouble months ahead of time. I am sure that his cronies new about the change well in advance. Of course remember it doesn't effect him he is covered under the UPS plan and still has Cadillac coverage.

Today the drivers at Cemex started an in house campaign to get out of the Union, they are going to go for a desertification vote. The drivers at Nevada Ready Mix are talking the same thing. This is the start of a trend that some of us new was coming. The International has been asked for help and nothing is happening. The Members are fed up and are not willing to continue to loose their insurance and take the massive wage cuts these clowns are negotiating. This is absolutely a shame for this to have to happen but it was inevitable. I truly believe this Local Union is doomed. I had really hoped that the Members would hold out until the next election and take them out but they seem to be just completely fed up and are not willing to wait. Those of us that still have faith in the movement will continue to try and convince them to stay and fight for their Union but I really feel we are fighting a loosing battle. This is what these companies have been waiting for.


You are right that these people in this administration have been lying to the members from the start. There was a lot of money left for them to operate and the Local was in better financial shape than most of the Locals in this Joint Council. The staff of this Local and the officers were paid less than most of the other Locals in this Joint Council. Don't take my word for it go to the DOL website or Union facts dot com and look for yourselves these are facts. If you download the LM2s for the last few years you will find that the last administration put more money back than any other administration in the past 15 or so years. They left the Local with no liabilities. The current administration accused the out going administration with improperly paying vacations and many other improprieties, But they are using the very same vacation and payroll policies as the past administration and as a matter of fact have given themselves raises when they are negotiating wage cuts for the members. When will it end?
