Was told by management they were going to monitor the seat belt, parking break, bulkhead door, severe braking, and backing. The mechanics have told us that there are also hidden cameras in the vehicle. One camera watches the driver, the other watches the road. Is this true? Is Uncle Brown watching me pick my nose and scratch my balls while Im on duty? Heard they had a fancy laptop so they can zoom in to a driver anytime they want, even on his break. Can anybody shed some light on this? Are the hidden cameras a hoax? Or is it really true Buster is always watching.

They had those in most of the pkg cars at one center i had worked in about 5 years ago. Now how does this help with productivity? It is only a harassment tool if you ask me:???:

Hidden cameras? I have a hard time believing that one. I do know this for a fact. In our center ( and we are way behind when it comes to stuff like this ) the new trucks have the capability to do all this. Mechanic told me the new trucks will one day be able to monitor the bulkhead door , seat belt , and severe breaking and speeds. He also told me they can tell if you are letting the truck run when you are out of the set ( driving in a yard and delivering packages while letting the truck run ) and stuff like that. As far as cameras go , have to see it to believe it. I been a driver for 16 years and this doesn't affect me. The ones it does affect are the speeders , the runners , and the guys that don't do it by the book. So , I say bring it on. The ones that will get pissed about all this is the " runners " and " lunch skippers ".

Now, I don't know about "hidden cameras" but I do know I've seen pkg cars wired to the gills with sensors on everything. But with the GPS and other crud in the new DIAD why waste all that money the "big brother" garbage

Yes, your hub is way behind!
Telematics has been in place in the hub here for a while and can monitor all the things you listed.
But please do not fool yourself that the only one that need to worry are the ones who do not do it by the book.
Telematics are not without fault and problems but getting the management to understand that isn't always easy.
My husband was harassed for weeks for an issue where the Telematics was showing his bulkhead door open when the truck was moving. The issue was that the latch on the bulkhead door was not tight and would allow the door to move just enough to disengage the sensor on the telematics. It took weeks of him explaining to the sup that it just wasn't possible for the bulkhead door to be opened while the vehicle was moving with him in his seat and his seatbelt on.
Common sense should have allowed the sup to figure this out immediately..but that didn't happen.

UPS does not care about anyones safety. Telematics is just another way to try and disapline drivers. So if you just do everything by the book they can't touch you. So all the runners, company men, lunch skippers, and production morons, will ne the ones in trouble. But will they really displine the drivers they love so much. I doubt it. So if they target the drivers they don't like they must also go after the drivers that are breaking the rules that give them those stupid numbers they love so much. If they cared about your safety we would have newer cars, a/c units, handcarts that are not broken, and a sensor in the seatbelt that would only allow car to start when buckled. WOW theres a thought. UPS DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR SAFETY THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEIR MAGICAL NUMBERS.
