This first article is dated yet fascinating material that is well worth reading. The second article brings us up to date.

Click here to read N. Y. Times article dated 11-15-2004

The following information is dated March 4, 2010. "The list of 108 union pension plans below is from the Moody’s September 2009 report. The ones in green print are at the endangered level, the ones in red are critical."

"The list is extremely scary. This is a disaster for many people. But what is the solution? Naturally the unions are hoping that government is the solution. But the problem with a government bailout is that should a bailout happen the unions will not learn the important lesson that they should learn from the necessary collapse, necessary to reign in their excess. Sadly, many will be hurt by this reigning in of unions, but these same members should never have allowed their unions to get so out of hand in the first place!"

A special thank you to the extraordinary Brother that brought this to my attention.

Outrageous is the only thing I could think. Why has this happened? Its hard to believe that just the economy has caused all of this. I believe there are factors here that demand an investigation by the Attorney Generals Office. This is plain ridiculous. When I first saw the list I expected our pension to be maybe somewhere in the top or middle. But to find it third from the bottom is frightening. What is going to happen to all the money that we gave up in place of wages? How many contracts have we negotiated knowing that our retirement wasn't that far away. I was told by old timers from the very first day not to get so hopped up for the wages. They told me that pension and health insurance was what counted the most. So that is the way most of us thought. Pension was tax free and it would help us when we retired. Now we are staring at a collapse because of the numb skulls that are running this plan. There has to be more going on that meets the eye. It literally sound impossible that all this money has somehow disappeared. I can honestly say I would give back some of my pension if I thought it would keep us afloat and I believe that is going to be proposed. How do you recover from 40%? I know one thing there are people who should be removed immediately. I know its like painting a broad brush but these people are literally in charge of our life the day you retire. They decide whether I pay my mortgage or not or even eat. I am furious that this has been allowed to happen. Thank you to the brother who submitted this and the information of the JC10 transcript. This is exactly what this site is about. Transparency. Obviously we have all been drinking from a poisonous source.

You fucking idiots make me sick. This post is like saying "Union members who own real estate have seen a decline in investments". How about listing all the fucking NON UNION pension plans that have struggled in this economy asshole. Or better yet, how about listing all the non union companies whose stock have gone down. You are a jerkoff. You use some conservative hack as your source?! You are a scab. And quite frankly, you are quite literally insane. Dumbass motherfucker...why don't you post more from Rush Limbaughs website so I can get another chuckle.

I guess we can blame the Government for all the contracts that have been negotiated without the New England Pension. This is not about control, oversight, or investments.... It's about one thing CONTRIBUTIONS!!!!!! Contract, after Contract new or renewed have been eliminated from negotiations. A 401k with a matching 50/50 is in much better shape then my 40%. They (the individual) even have control of their pension. We have been held hostage since day one with ours.

Where do you come up with this garbage? Tell me more about it-what act or law was legislated to place these funds under government control? I want to read up on it.

All anybody has to do is listen a little, ask a little, hear them avoid your questions and have a little bit of common sense to see this coming. That information is not political-it is not twisted-it is the way it is. Read it and weep.

Takea good look at that list and realize our we serious trouble in New England.Don't you think it's kinda sad when you see everyone one on your Eboard tooling around in 40,000 dollar SUV that get about 5 miles a gallon. They drive those cars because assholes like us don't speak up and we pay for the gas.In local 82 our Trade Show director for the IBT drives a Escalade that cost 70,000 grand and we pay for his gas and a thousand a month car allowance. This asshole also allowed the pension to be shorted by 250,000 dollars and it took the AG up here in mass to get it back to us.He is now allowing work in our union to go thru a company called union payroll and they don't pay into the pension plan.Joint council ten the same guys that run the pension know this yet they haven't done shit about it.I will post the proof of what I have just said so that everyone can see it is no lie.

Come on guys, you didn't see this coming, look at ALL the endangered pension trusts. You must of saw the writing on the wall with UPS withdrawing from Central States, these guys are not idiots they were willing to pay 6.1 billion two years ago rather than be stuck with the bill when these funds went further in the red. Here is the facts, you have too many pensioners and not enough active participants, the whole house of cards was bound to be in trouble.

What we need is solutions, and for all the bad-mouthing finger pointing and swearing is not going to do any of us any good. There will be cuts in future accured benefits, raising of the early retirement eligibility and cuts in retirees' and or actives' medical benefits. The only other solution would be organizing new members, which is going to be a hard fight considering the clot that these corporations have in Washington. Seriously what company or corporation would be willing to get involved in these insolvent pension trusts and their liability. Another solution is to start putting more money into these pension trusts, whether required by the pension reform act of 06, but it seems that these corporations are lobbying pretty heavy in order to find a loophole out of those requirements.

I really can see the anger and frustration over this issue, and the total lack of trust with the people who had control and knowledge about these endangered pension trusts. People made promises that they had no way of providing, the money is simply not there. They say anything to get elected, paint a rosy picture, and most of us put our head in the sand and continued to whistle Dixie and vote accordingly. We never research anything ourselves. asked the right questions and listened and believed everything being told to us, we never held anybody accountable.

Every Teamster in the Country will soon have proof of the sweetheart deals that John Perry gives companies that short our pensions by not contributing.

Fact John Perry allowed a company in our union to eliminate a clause in the contract that lets the company run a non union warehouse. The company is called Corperate Communications and that contract will be posted in the morning.I will highlite the specific clause and also Perrys signature showing he has agreed to it.The problem for our pension is this allows them to get out of the pension contributions and in effect hurts all Teamsters across the Country. This is not an isolated incident Perry has also allowed GES one of the two largest General contractors in the Trade shows the same deal.We are losing millions of dollars that would be paid into the New England Teamsters pension funds because of his sweetheart deals. You see Perry family members have 10 out of the top 15 spots on GES list,gu figure.
Vegas jim,the people in Perrys pocket have a plan of loading this website with threats and vulgarities in the hope that you will squash any topics that point out Perrys crimes.Look at some of the post it is easy to see what a bunch of maggots we are dealing with in local 82.

Could not have said it any better. This chart of underfunded pensions should be posted in every Teamster Company across New England.

Before you have a stroke, look at the Source MOODY'S. It might be one of the most respected investment sources around. I think I know who has the media mind.
