Alex Ybarrolaza passed away on Thursday, February 18th 2010.

With a heavy heart I regret to inform you that my father, my best friend and my mentor Alex Ybarrolaza passed away on Thursday afternoon in February 2010. To those of you here at TeamsterNet he was known as "alex_y".

The services are tentatively scheduled for a rosary on Thursday February 25th at 6:30pm and mass at 11am on Friday February 26th in Petaluma, CA at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church located at 35 Liberty Street . Petaluma, CA 94952. Everyone who would like to attend is more than welcome so please come if you would like to pay your last respects.

When I have final details I will be sure to post them along with directions to the church and cemetery.

He was the single biggest fan of TeamsterNet and I would encourage anyone who has any thoughts they would like to share to post a reply to this thread.

A full tribute will come at a later time when I can bear the pain to write it.

I love you and miss you.

Brother Phil, my condolences to you, and family. My Dad passed, some years ago, at the ripe old age of 70. So, I can feel your pain, and loss....grief sucks!, but, hang in there, tight!

Phil,
This was the first Teamster message board I found online back in 2003 and Alex was one of the posters I really respected. He was a great Teamster and Brother and I'm sure a great Dad too. My family's thoughts and prayers are with your family and all who had the pleasure of knowing Alex.

Our Teamster family has lost one heck of a Brother.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this sorrowful time.
Phil please take comfort knowing he is with the Lord. Rest in peace alex_y.
Diapers and politicians need to be changed... often for the same reason.

I'm so sorry to hear that. He will be missed by all real Teamsters, whether we agreed with him or not. I didn't personally know Alex, however, he wrote with passion, intelligence and feeling and was without a doubt a strong unionman. That's the bottom line.

Phil, I remember meeting you and your dad at the 2000 Convention in Vegas, I am so very very sorry to hear of your dad's passing, my sincerest condolences.

Phil you and your family are in my prayers. I have lost both of my parents and while the pain will begin to pass in time, you will always have the memories, the lessons and love that your father gave you.

By having some discussions with Alex here on T-NET, GONZ could tell that he was an " OLD SCHOOL, STAND UP " TEAMSTER !
He will be sadly missed !

Phil,
I was fortunate to have known your dad , and been able to go bird hunting with him and your uncle Gabe. He was the steadying influence and the voice of reason on the t-net, and I am sure that he was as good of a father as he was a brother to his Teamster brothers and sisters. This is one post that I know you did not want to make, but your love of your dad came through loud and clear.

Please receive my heartfelt condolences for the untimely loss of your father. Not only you are loosing your father and your best friend but we all in the labor movement are also loosing a true friend and and an infatigable spirit. I got the pleasure and honor of working with him throughout the years at 890 and personally I grew very fond of his coolness and wisdom and he was a guiding light of reason and diplomacy for me.
He will be greatly missed.

Dear Phil,

We are all saddended to hear about the loss of your father. Although, I did not personally know him, I believe I can speak on behalf of many here, that share your sorrow and give you and your family our sincere condolences. I also sadly know what it is like to have lost a father, best freind, loved one, and my only family member. I do hope however, you have family to lean on, to get you through this difficult time and the upcoming months duration of feeling of loss.

For now, I would like to share a poem I found shortly after my father's demise and I found it somewhat to be a comfort.
