We are hearing rumors of a new proposal from DHL labor. Is there any truth to the Chicago deal?

Who is the "we" you are talking about?
Why not have them confirm ( or deny ) the rumors they are hearing.

there is talk of a new offer! The Company and DHL were sitting down on the 19th of January. No word has come out since DHL managment stepped on there dicks last time and let everything out before the union could talk to the locals.

25k on the table. Good time to take it and run, in my opinion. It beats 11 weeks

Guest_hadenough:

One thing to remember it's a one time $25,000 lump sum payment and not 11 40 hour work weeks with health and welfare and pension contributions. I haven't done the math but you should before you jump.

Are you working on the "bubble" or are you far enough down the list that even if a few above you take it you still won't work?

I'm at the bottom. Just a handful of people below me.

Lump sum payments are generally taxed at the bonus rate around 40%. Just ask any UPSer that was there during the horrible bonus years, the 500 part time bonus ended up being about 300 after taxes. Take the 11 weeks it's a much better deal if it includes healthcare and pension contributions.

tHIS IS THE LATEST NEWS DURING A TELEVISED PRESS CONFERENCE ON bloomberg WITH dhl fRnk Appel:We beleive we have mad afair severance offer of $25,000 to our most senior teamster drivers. Some beleieve it will go higher.ThAT IT isa negotiating ploy.
"I assure you one thing. In the next nine to twelve months, we will be downsizing. It is that simple.Projections to increase american leverage in the international freight and letter work are minimal, accordng to several surveys we have performed.
"I willguarantee you one thing. The severanve offer wil go nohigher. It is not a bluff. We are giving it to October 1,2010 to be acted upon. After that, we have no obligations to meet and severance packages.Future business strategy involving DHL dictates hat we eliminate severance packages, cut dow on freight over 20 pounds, and cease doing exporting business with companies who fail to bring us $750 per week in letter sized business.
"The prognosis for India and China is bright, and that is where we will concentrate. As for the United States, we remain stagnant.I would encourage our employees to take advantage of a fair and beneficial severance package.Unless,of course, they are in a position where their personal finances dictate that they can assume the risk of receiving no severance monies."

WHAT A TRAGEDY TEAMSTER LOCAL 107 HAS BECOME.WE JUST HAD THE PASSING OF WHAT OF OUR MOST BRILLIANT MINDS---TOMMY RYAN.AND NOW WHAT???WE HAVE THE BOZO BILLY IRB RAT HAMILTON BRINGING US BACK 50 YEARS.WHEN ARE THE 107 MEMBERS GOING TO WISE UP???IF THE LATE, GREAT JOE CIMINO AND THE LATE GREAT TOMMY RYAN WERE STILL ALIVE, THEY WOULD TURN MANAGEMENT WATCHING THE STUPIDITY OF THIS MEMBERSHIP KEEPING A BS DRUNK RAT LIKE HAMILTON IN OFFICE.ALL HE DOES IS SELL THE MEMBERS OUT, GET DRUNK AT THE MEMBERS EXPENSE, TALK ABOUT HOW GREAT HE IS WITH HIS LITTLE WHIPPING POODLE SNEAKERS GRIFFITH, AND BAD MOUTH THE REST OF THE UNION LEADERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, ESPECIALLY JIMMY "GIVE THE COMPANIES WHHAT THEY WANT" HOFFA, A FAT LITTLE BOY WHO NEVER DID A DAYS WORK BEHIND THE WHEEL OF A TRUCK.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO UNPROUD TO BE A TEAMSTER AS I HAVE BEEN SINCE HAMILTON BECAME A LEADER.
MAKE HIM A DEAL (HE'S A MASTER AT DEALS).TELL HIM TO RESIGN AND PROMISE HIM FREE MILLER LITE AT CHAMPS OR REDSTONE OR HOULIHANS (MEDFORD) OR WHEREVER HE USES HIS SHANTY LIPS TO THROW BACK THE BRAIN KILLING SPIRITS AT THE MEMBERS EXPENSE.
WHAT A JOKE HE MADE OUT OF THE DHL DRIVERS!!!!
