I work as UPS as a FT pkg car driver. A lot of time our nxt day air gets to the building after we have left. The center uses part timers to shuttle the air to us. For as long as I can remember, these pt workers were coded as air drivers receiving air driver pay. Our center is small and does not have any "air drivers" per se. We only have part timers that shuttle air when its late or pick up air pickup pkgs from drivers that won't make it back in by air pull. Now mgmt is telling these guys that they will just receive their regular part time wages. For most of these guys, that's about a $7/hr pay cut while they are doing that air work. Even more if they go over 8 hours and get into OT. Mgmt says that they have been directed from above to do this. Anyone else hear of anything like this? We have called our local to see what they have to say, but no one has received a call back from them. We are in local 767, and they have been known to make side deals.
NO MORE AIR PAY?

based on their seniority, progression, etc. under article 40 the part-timers could actually lose money if coded as air drivers for distributing the air pkgs. sometimes people don't want to hear it but the truth of the matter is 767 may not be perfect but who is. i know those guy and have seen them in action. they work hard and try to do right by there brothers and sisters. especially john shorts. if i were in a bind i would want him representing me anytime. a little advice from an old-timer in the south. don't believe what someone else says about trying to talk to a ba or whatever. if you have a question call that ba your self or go see him, then make your own decision. negativity is a cancer that is slowly destroying solidarity. change starts with each of us giving trust and respect to those who have earned it. john s has fault battles for our brothers and sisters that very few know about because they aren't publicized. i have seen him do the courageous and right thing when he thought no one else was watching. anyway, take this or leave it and i hope you and your fellow teamsters in tx have great and safe holidays.
