WHERE DO UNION FUNDS GO?

Education and training of members.

Grievance handling

Collective bargaining research and negotiations.

Welfare and financial assistance during emergencies and in time of calamities.

The national federation that services the local unions in term of legal assistance,

education and training and other important services which the local union on its own

cannot undertake.

HOW ARE UNION FUNDS SAFEGUARDED?

The treasurer and the auditor are responsible for the safety of union funds. It is their duty

to see to it that union funds are properly allocated and that whatever goes out of the union

funds is properly documented with a receipt. The president also plays a vital role in

safeguarding union funds by deciding on and monitoring the allocation and disbursements

of funds. Most importantly, the members play a significant role in safeguarding union

funds through vigilance and assertion of their right to see to it that union funds are

properly budgeted and spent.

Sherri, u forgot one MAJOR place where our funds in the Union go......POLITICS!!! The Teamster Union is the 11th largest contributor to political campaigns, and most of which goes to whoever THEY deem. Been pretty much a waster of funds in my opinion because Democrat or Republican, they do crap for us. The court our money for every campaign and usually when it comes to getting something back from them.........well then they're MIA

I have to say you hit on the nose fr8man. The local/state politics seems to be the only areas that pay off.

Sherry You just keep right on educating the workers because local 145 is still in campaign to fool the dump employee feels the shop stewarts dont have any reason to be trained per executor. Whos working for who? you dont have to knock but once you are the one out of them all who gets invited back! note: there are many other unions whom post the upcoming contracts show the finance pie with shares /medical/dental/electorial/pensions. this site shows notta. whos afraid of the truth? Alot of backlashing ecause their is no structure!!! Communication such a key to success! mind this the three prominate unions in mind have this smackdown to compare to .

I'm not sure what Sherri intent is by bringing up this topic? --(to cause waves or to educate members?) But as a prior rep in the Union, I can assure you (the members) that union dues are safeguarded. I would recommend that instead of guessing where the union dues goes and why, and trying to cause waves, that each and everyone of you that are wondering, go buy "employee and union member guide to labor law books", or take a labor law course and educate yourselves more in this area. I'm sure the labor union reps would appreciate that, compared to some of you making accusations of where funds do go and in which it goes to many different areas that are for one example to keep the local running, and too much to list right now. So go buy books or take a labor course or to your public library.
