A Republican plan to block voters who have had their homes foreclosed on in Macomb County, Michigan from voting in November has been legally challenged by the Obama campaign, who are seeking an injunction to block county Republicans from using foreclosure lists to prevent people from voting in the presidential election.
The story was originally broken by the Michigan Messenger that Republican volunteers planned to use the foreclosure lists to challenge the votes of anyone who had their home foreclosed on, because in order for a vote to count the voter must live in the same precinct that they are voting in. The Obama campaign has responded by seeking an injunction blocking the use of the foreclosure lists.
During a conference call this afternoon Obama legal counsel Bob Bauer explained the purpose of the lawsuit, “Let me be very clear. The purpose of the lawsuit is to reassure people that this is not going to unanswered. We have particular voters who would be threatened by this conduct and two organizations that are actively seeking to turn people out to vote who would be in this position, and who could conceivably believe that they shouldn’t respond, shouldn’t register and shouldn’t vote, because they would be subject to these illegal challenges...The purpose of this exercise is to protect people, and they can go forward in the knowledge that we are going to make absolutely sure that these foreclosure lists aren’t used to challenge otherwise eligible voters.”
The Michigan Republican Party denies the story, and that there ever was a plan to use foreclosure lists against voters. The Messenger story claims that the point of the plan is to suppress black turnout, but 91% of the county in question is white. 3,647 homes are in foreclosure in the county, and there is reason to believe that most of those homes belonged to white voters.

673,
So you think it's a bad thing that their policies have pushed people into foreclosure and then - not quite being satisfied with their handiwork - they're now not allowing those who're foreclosed upon to vote them out? Gosh you're picky.

I hope your not suggesting grown men and woman cannot be trusted to make there own purchasing decisions and when those choices go bad it's the Govt's fualt. Is u or is u not?
I have a friend who gambled. He sold the house he could afford, dumped the profit into a high dollar house, tapped out the home equity line over the years and curently wrapped up a divorse. He can no longer afford the house and owe's more than it's worth. Guess what, this grown man who can make all kinds of grown up choices blames the realtor for suggesting that she could put him in that house. He knew the risk and that he couldn't even take a day off with the payments, but it's not his fualt. It's someone elses?!!?
But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matt 6; 33

Krash, Methinks that the thread's issue is the republicans effort to block the votes of those that have had their houses foreclosed. Nothing like a swift kick when they are down and vulnerable, no matter who one chooses to blame.

Well, seems the "devil" sure takes care of his own.....Ann Coulter doesn't bother to follow the voting rules..due to multiple home ownership..can't decide JUST which precinct or State to chose from..but was certainly allowed to vote illegaly..and have her vote COUNTED!
But, with nearly 10,000 foreclosures daily, and no doubt many people between homes of any kind at the present...they don't get to vote!
How absurd!!!

This Michigan caper is just the tip of the iceberg of Republican election fraud planned for this cycle.
The McLames' have direct mailed millions of likely Obama voters (1 million in Ohio alone) with applications for absentee ballots. These applications are not the official applications, contain extra requirements, and have the wrong clerk's office where they should be submitted. So far I can find no democratic response to this continued Republican vote caging.
Didn't 2000 and 2004 teach the democrats anything? Why are they sitting on their hands and allowing McLame to steal this election?
