Well now , I guess I will say something on this subject. When you take into consideration what we do and what others do , this is the conclusion I have reached. Go by what we do and our pay. When you compare us to FedEx it is a joke.
Compare us to the Postman and their is a bigger joke.
I do three times what FedEx does in one day. Can anyone tell me what the FedEx person makes an hour? What about the Postman? I think these people posting on here are just jealous they are not here making what we are making. Oh , it is 26.15 an hour right now , not 23 dollars an hour.
P.S. What about the dead beats in management? Anything over 5 dollars an hour is too much for them.

23.00 an hour wasnt given to anyone first of all,it was earned through countless contracts over the last 50 years.Just like ups didnt have a net profit of 300 million a quarter 20 years ago ,they do now so the workers reap the rewards, ive been at ups for 20 years 14 part-time an let me tell you guys who are bashing part-timers something, whoever was spoutin off about the part-timers couldnt do the p-t work, try gettin in a feeder an workin nonstop bustin ur butt in the intense heat for 4 hours, for the pay it is very hard work,an to me thats the backbone of ups, thats the reason they profit so much because they can take advantage of young kids an work them like slaves on a daily basis for $8-$10 an hour just for short periods.if ups didnt have partime workers an everyone was fulltime, wages an benefits would surely be less,so thank your fellow partime worker u putz!!!

Well said. I was p/t for 7 years and 4 months. I worked the preload and worked harder 4 hours a day than I do all day now a days as a driver. Bad thing is , the low p/t wage is hurting UPS a lot. Let me explain. Look at the pay scale now. In 1986 , I started out at 9 bucks an hour p/t and now they start them out at 8.5 an hour 19 years later. 8O They can't keep p/t help in our building. The kind of help they have now is far diffrent than that of the " older days " and they wonder why. Load quality is terrible but management is just happy to have a body there to load.

I know one thing , I would not do that kind of work for 8.50 an hour.[/quote]
Well here in the louisville area low partime wages arent hurtin ups,in fact it helps, let me explain. At least here in the louisville hub we have metro college students an since im not one i may not be 100% correct in how it works but think im right on.they get students in high school to co-op out an work in the daytime, ups has mentors who keep tabs on how these kids are doing an from what ive seen they are treated very good. When these kids enroll in college under the metro college plan, the sign an agreement to work for ups in return ups pays for their school,an if they quit ups before said date they have to repay the tuition,im pretty sure thats how they work it,an it keeps starting pay at 8.50 an hour.i was hired 20 years ago at 8/hr an was treated terrible by management. We worked 3 hours a day, we paid for our school had very good health ins. but were treated exactly like slaves,an now looking back it easy to see how ups got so big so fast, they were very, very cost effecient. Now its almost like watching a govt run with all the waste you see at our hub,but maybe that comes with the territory ,the biggest hub/workforce for ups is right here.We also have the 6 hour jobs which is actually not a bad deal,u get 80/per year for retirement which in the end will be better than f-t pension because they havent implimented the 62 years of age rule, you can still retire at 50 years old with 30 years in.and at 55 per year an 80/year while 6 hour at least you can retire if you play your cards right,us fulltimers have to wait til 62 or pay a huge penalty, its all a scam to keep us from retiring, just like .......the GOVERNMENT!

central states fund is age 62 now,and you take a 6% penalty for every year you retire early.so you retire at age 57,subtract 30% off your check.if your pension will be 6100.00 at age 48,then you must work for haliburton, not a teamster job.dont be a smartarse and if you think you will ever get 6100.00 at age 48 at a teamsters pension thats non-executive,then i have some ocean f..........ah forget it

Sorry you can't spell gearjammer properly, that would explain why you didn't read projection properly either.I am not 48 now, sorry I am not in Central States, but my projection is 6100/month w/30 years service @ age 48 (w/out being a smartarse)You can keep your ocean f........ah forget it property,'cause according to you I won't be able to afford it.Not sure how I dissed you,but I am a lowly package car driver in Northern N.Y.(real executive material huh??)

just curious gearslammer, but how can you tell me your pension check was 6100.00 at last mailing, then tell me you can prove your projections?you shouldnt have a projection if you already got your check!
Sorry I guess when you saw the word projection you would have deduced that I am not getting my pension now.The last mailed projection was " ah forget it."

Not sure what the penalty is you are talking about for full timers? My pension(at last mailing)is $6100.00/month.That will be at age 48 not 62.I am not sure where the facts you are quoting are coming from, but I can document my pension projections.
my pension at last mailing mean at last mailing you got a pension is the way i read it,but regardless not sure what pension fund your in that pays any1 6100 at age 48.im assuming with 30 years in u get 6100 at any age, well central states isnt nearly as good,an if your a lowly package car driver then what are u in?western penn fund?id have to see it to believe it.not doubting they tell you that our that they have a computer program that spits it out,i just dont think any teamsters plan will ever let its members live as good retired as they did while they worked, which is what i see.i know the itsmymap site says they can do it,6100 for 30 years but it wont happen, what fund are you in for the second time?

Like I said,I am not in Central States. Our last retired driver is collecting(not projected)over 5 grand a month. If you want I will pm you my last projection.I am in Teamsters local 687 to answer your question for "the second time".After 2008 will I get that,I don't know, I don't have a crystal ball, but a lowly package car driver like myself is most definately not your enemy. At least you managed to spell gearjammer right this time,so there may be some hope for you afterall.

6,100 per month at age 48? Hmmm sounds like all of the rest of the Teamster are getting screwed by the damn yankees. I would like to see written proof of your retirement...There is a penalty for early retirement. 48 my ass!

central states fund has changed effective jan1 2004...30 an out at any age?no more..its work til age 62 no matter how many years you have in,and if you retire before 62 subtract 6 % off everything you earned after jan1 2004 per year.so if u retire at age 58 subtract 24 % off everything u earned after 2004,on top of that u cant acquire health insurance til age 57 no matter when u retire.on top of that health insurance after u retire is like 200 per month for u an spouse.those are the main reason i wont be voting for our local89 executives this december or hoffa when that election comes up.hoffa an out local new the trouble our pension was in an sold us on a contract an great pension along with the master freight people when they new they were screwin us,hoffa enjoy ur last days in office pal!
