N.E. PENSION FUND IN A HOLE BY 1.264 BILLION

The Trustees of the New England Pension fund reported a 1,264 billion asset to liability short fall. None of this short fall is the fault of UPS or its workers BUT they will be the one that, if they stay, will shoulder the burden for it. Already the trustees have moved the goal post and effectively canceled the pensions of 10s of thousands of UPS workers in N.E. I say cancel because few will make the arduous physically demanding road to 30 years in the “new UPS” work loads and production standards.
While over a million non-UPS teamsters enjoy a windfall benefit pay out vs what their companies paid in for, some as high as 500% gains, the UPS workers already receive a 60% loss in cash paid in vs benefits paid out. Heck 1.264 billion comes from companies that aren’t paying in at all or under funding there requirements.
And why should they fund there plans when UPS and its workers carries their load? Why would the Teamsters want to change the scheme that rips off 10s of thousands of UPS workers? Negotiate contracts that represent and pay benefits based on ACTUAL contribution by the companies: Hell no! Then they couldn’t look like rainmakers and self-important demigod they parade themselves around as during these Teamster junket.
Its time for the UPS workers to revolt against this communist socialism that meet out upon them a gross injustice and wholesale insults to there person and financial future. WHAT EVER IT TAKES. Decertify, accept UPS, if they offer a plan, organize our own union, or anything within our powers to end the injustice. FAILURE TO DO SO guarantees more and deeper benefits cuts and years more of required service.

Without the Union I'm thinking UPSers wouldn't be getting the rate of pay they get, along with health benefits. They'd probably right in the ballpark with Fed-Ex where they can shit can you anytime they please if they think your not doing the job, and believe me, theres plenty of guys at UPS that think there're priviledged, and the world owes them a living. Those people are the ones that BETTER HOPE they never get rid of the Union, cause if that happens, they will be the next ones gone

Yo dipstick, You were not listening to the subject. He said in laymans terms that the teamsters NE pension fund is over 1BILLION dollars in dept. And that although UPS is a profitable co, Only 40% of their contributions to the fund go to UPS retired teamsters. The rest goes to teamsters who's companies went under, and or no longer contribute to the fund or have not in good faith contributed to the fund while they were in buisness.. In other words .........Get the hell out b/4 the ship goes down or you will go down with it!!!!!!!

P.S
By the way, The reason most of the loaders are part time is because of the wonderfull contract that the teamsters negotiated. Did you know that under a teamster contract that as much as 90% of the work force can be negotiated in a contract as part time!!!!!!!!!!

Enough of the socialist communist crap. Strength comes in numbers and the realization that none of us can do this of and by ourselves. Reality is that those that have will not share with those that dont. PERIOD. Pensions are in far greater peril outside this union than within. It is geo- political its bigger than you or me,Buying into these phonies and frauds that want to tear us down is not the answer. Politically we have been sold a lie its not the fault of Hoffa, Carey or any other union leader these funds reflect the economic reality of the misguided polices of our politicians. None of this happened by accident don't blame the very people who fight against this sellout of working people.Funds are forced to make responsible fudiciary judgements to sustain thier viability. Those that would use this for poltical gain are charlitans, and those that are attempting to divide us are the very people who want to destroy unions. Be grateful you are somewhere you can bitch about your pension. Everyone else's is being abolished.Bitch about your pensions payout then try to sustain that same defined benefit package over a long healthy retirement period with a 401-K. Our way of life depends on us remembering what those teamsters before us stood together to fight. Stop blaming the Union and hold these corporate robber barons and spin doctors who tap into our own selfish desires. Lock arms with your brothers and sisters and take on the real enemy. Hopefully we don't find them in the mirror and embarass our predecesors.

Ok then how about all those gansters that raided pension funds
Hold on there I'm still trying to follow some of your previous remarks. You mentioned the seperation of funds, you are speaking to the N.E. fund or at least this thread started in referance to that. The central states fund was the one used out in Vegas and a not often shared fact is that the monies were repaid with interest. All pensions with rare exception took a hit around 911,whether they be private, public, or union backed. Electing or changing trustees only puts other people in the same tough spot. If your pay gets cut you have to tighten the budget. Thats whats going on here. The blame game and musical trustees won't solve our problems.

"Many of our other funds are beginning to show improvement due to these responsible cuts. Its a tough spot for all of us brother and there are not any quick easy answers." = robbing Peter to pay Paul
socialism + robbing Peter to pay Paul= screwing and riding the coat tails of UPS employees who were counting on their well deserved retirement funds to be in the pension where they put them

multiple paychecks, kickbacks and multiple pensions would be a great start
in rebuilding our pension funds. We should go back at least thirty years and
sue estates if deceased.
