I think most of you have been overly unfair to the APWA. Sure they haven't a clue as to how their "claims" and "promises" should come to fruition, or how to respond to queries regarding their legal legitimacy, but obviously, in their reckless and crass attempts at spamming a Teamster Web Site, they care about UPS Teamsters.
They "care" that you realize the "suggested" donations are in the amount of $150.00, and that they may be easily faciliatated online, through most major credit cards.

Danny Eason is a feeder driver out of Raliegh NC. He is also a co-founder of the APWA, and former long time teamster member.
By the way some have spoken of bylaws and constitutions.
Here are two examples of the teamsters breaking there on constitution.
(1) They raised union due without a vote of the rank and file.
Constitution states that union dues will not be raised without a vote of the rank and file. It does not state that deligates have the right to cast votes for the rank and file.
(2) The teamster constitution states that the wording of the constitution will not be changed without a vote of the rank and file and yet they changed the wording from 2 times your hourly rate, to 2 and a half times you hourly rate, without a vote of the rank and file.
Another example of the rank and file following blindly!

Well teamsterman, AT least someone is trying to come up with a solution to the mess the teamsters have gotten us into.
But, I would expect that from a true teamster, a lot of lip service, but no answers. That is all the teamsters have given us for years lip service, lies, and broken promises, and taking our money and future, for these services.

I assume your talking about Central States. First of all, I don't think the teamsters had anything to do with that mess. Try blaming that on the trustees. They made the bad investments, not the teamsters.
If you're looking for a solution to the mess, I've got one word for you "organizing". Try shifting your energy in that direction. Although I wouldn't be against some form of partitioning regarding the multi-employer plans. Makes more sense than starting all over.
And yes, I'm a true blue brown teamster. No lip service here, you the one with no answers.
And I'm sure that's "all" the teamsters have given you for years. I guess you forgot about the 25+ dollars an hour (not to mention the 38+ dollars an hour overtime). And I guess the health benefits (which most people would die for) just slipped your mind. And I guess job protection, weekends, vacations, seniority rights, safe working conditions, etc, etc also just slipped your mind.
Nope, them nasty ol teamsters don't do a damn thing for you huh.

Teamster, krash.Alex, You people are in for a rude awakening in the near future, I just hope that your still around when the NLRB comes into your center for a vote, and it is probable going to be a lot sooner then you think.
We want rest until our Pension is back on solid ground! With or without you three or the teamsters, it will happen.

teamsterman you need to do your homework . Of the 21 multiemployer plans ups pays into 11 are less than 75 percent funded. That means quite a few are in crisis mode.

The guys starting this union are from SC, which would put them in Central States (I believe). And I do my homework and I have no argument about what you state. Central States is the largest and in the most trouble. And the one I'm in also.
So, how do we fix the problems? Starting a new union isn't the answer. I think partitioning is a good idea. Combining all the funds is another. Doing something to prevent the trustees from making bad investments. Step up organizing efforts. All these things would be a good start.
To be quit frank, I would rather UPS control the pension and welfare funds than let these scam artists have it. And that's probably the way it's going to go, unless they do something drastically different with the multi-employer funds.
But, I think we all agree that something needs to be done. And hopefully we'll all make the right decisions.

Teamsterman,
The people that founded the APWA are from Greensboro, NC and Raleigh NC.
Have you ever talk to the teamsters and CS about partitioning the fund?
Many of us have!
Before the APWA was started.
They would rather have the fund go under than partition or combine the fund.
There is no talking or reasoning with them on this matter, we tried for a couple of years.
They don't want to hear it!
We had to file lawsuit against them, just so they would release the finacial information of the fund, and they are still fighting against that in court.

So lets see, some union busting lawyers, and a couple of malcontents get together and promise everyone a pot of gold, perfect harmony and world peace and we are all supposed to march right off the cliff with you?
I would seem to me that if anyone has questions about the AWPA they could contact Mr. Francis T. Coleman at
tcoleman@williamsmullen.com or Phone: 202-293-8120.
Does the AWPA have a phone number? An office? A single business card?
"Feeders" step up and answer some questions?!

UPSsup,
Just look at these calculations of what UPS pays today, compounded annually at only 7% for 30 years. Mind blowing isn't it?

Even a safe Tbill @ 4% would give you $38,183 a year in interest. Then you decide how much of the principle you eat in a year. Could you live long enough to spend it all at $7,000 a month?
