Feel better now ?
I understand your frustration. I'm affected by the changes also.
Clearly, you don't care about anything but yourself. Self realization is a bitter pill to swallow, but you really don't need to motherf__k everyone including your Union. Nobody forced you to work at the parcel.... 30 years of blood, sweat, and tears ??? Being a little dramatic aren't you ???
Relax.... in a hundred years, who's gonna care.

CS and the Teamsters in true form, once again, want to take our money and retirment and have us say, Ok, whatever you say.
But I don't think it is going to fly this time!

This must be some sort of TDU math.
Lets see, the coffee pot is filled to the six (6) cup line.
But wait, I only got three (3) cups out of it.
Thats a 50% reduction. Better start a new Union.

No, the only cause is more retirees than contributers. Of course, you can make a good arguement that benfit levels were set too high also. As recently as a year before all the bad news about CSPF, TDU was calling, no demanding that Hoffa push for HIGHER benifit levels! Funny, you don't see any big push from freight guys (not that there is that many left) for a new union. I can't help but think about '97 whenever the pension bebachle is mentioned. Ron Carey sold us a bill of goods, and we followed him to slaughter like good little sheep. This union is dying a slow death, if the APWA is patient they can pick over the carcuss, oh... Aug. of '08 or so.

It is no secret that UPS has been out spoken about the need to get out of the multi employer funds, so chances are that when the contract runs out the last day of 2007, that UPS will make a stand, The Union will call for a strike, the majority of UPS hourly employees will not honor this strike, and the teamsters affiliation with UPS will be history.

It will be the Majority of UPS hourly employees crossing the invisable line.
You don't think so? Go take a straw poll.
Most UPSers will not honor another call to strike by the Teamsters.

That's what they said in 1997 also. Tell you what, "if" we have to take a strike authorization vote; that will be your straw poll.
And where do you get this strike crap?
There won't be any strike and there won't be any APWA.

My desire and hope is that a decertification vote is held in 2006 and a new union is solicited or form to take over the process.
The Teamsters have nothing but bad news to deleiver to UPS and its employees and its unfunded liability hangs like a millstone around the necks of UPS and its employees.
Its time to charter a new direction.

Ever hear of a contractual bar to a decertification effort? You should have your apwanese attorney study up on US Labor Law.
Like I've previously stated, apwa represents a threat to no one other than its fellow apwanese.

I'm not as up on legal stuff as you are, but wouldn't contract bar doctrine not apply in this case, due to the length of the UPS/Teamster contract?
I agree that the APWA is no friend of the working man.
Thanks for your contributions.

As I understand it, the contract bar doctrine only limits a representational election until the contract expires or when it's coverage has extended over three years; i.e. - an election can be called either when the contract is at the end of it's term, or after three years, whichever comes first. Again, I'm not supporting this APWA thing either, but the "contract bar" thing doesn't appear to be an applicable barrier to it.

Well there you go again name calling. I bet you where a real treat to share a sandbox with or maybe that supposition is true even today.
Fact is the Teamsters have nothing but bad news to deliver to the UPS workers and if thats what you call representation then your fired.
The APWA is a concept and a fledgling alternative to the woeful and pathic leadership of the Teamsters. Here's a news flash Dumbo, The Teamsters will loose any authorization for a strike vote and will loose any battle with UPS in 2008 PERIOD.
The reason why I and many other want an alternative choice is because we want to avoid the train wreck we see coming. The signs say "Bridge Out!" and the Teamsters can't read. The Teamsters are not going to draw out the loyalty and unity it will need to sink there hands deeper into UPS pockets and its employees because the "DEAL" there going to sell amounts to UPS employees getting dramaticlly less benefits and threatens there jobs.
In the end the facts will speak for themselves and the Teamsters have nothing to offer UPS workers. We want to change that and negotitate a strong contract with real increases in wages & benefits that UPS can afford and still compete with other in the industies. BUT, make no mistake, we will never settle for less than what we have now and thats will never be the Teamsters position.
The Teamsters will try every underhanded way to get a strike authorization and even if it succeeds it will never be honored by the membership. Thats because the Teamsters don't represent the best interest of UPS workers PERIOD, and every UPS workers who's benefits are being cut because more money piad in for them is being diverted knows it! Any strike authorization and walk out won't be for UPS workers best interest but for every other non-UPS Teamsters best interest, and UPSers KNOW IT!
I hope the Teamsters are siting in Vegas watching the sun going down over there futures in 2008 and that we the WORKERS of UPS are sitting across the table and negotittating the contract we know we deserve and will get.
End of story!
