just to you all know our pension is no longer in critical status and has not been for some time, they recieved the money from DHL that was owed 100 mil, now if they could get the 65 mil that they let Airborne slide on we would be sitting pretty good, just can't figure out how you let someone get that far behind and continue to let them hire people and bring them into the union, all it did was stress our plan even more than it should have been, guess the trustee's must have been noding off.

Dhl's New Buyout Plan

DHL, IBT Tentative Deal Goes to Members

November 3, 2009: DHL Teamsters will soon be voting on a management-proposed mid-contract change which would include buy outs of Teamster to allow the hiring of low-wage drivers and dock workers.

Half of the full-time DHL Teamsters currently working would be offered $75,000 to sever ties with the company while other seniority Teamsters would be offered $25,000. Then 75% of the remaining currently working active seniority list would be guaranteed 40 hours per week at full pay rate.

The company would then be able to expand the use of part-timers, who start at $12 per hour on the dock and $14 for driving.

At this point no proposal in writing has been put to the members. Teamsters have a right to vote on any proposed contract change.

Click here for a copy of a management memo explaining the proposed deal.

Concerned DHL Teamsters have launched a campaign to oppose the changes to the contract. They see the re-opener as a DHL effort to eliminate good fulltime union jobs and reposition the company with reduced labor costs. Under the national contract, DHL cannot use part-time drivers until they have recalled all Teamsters on lay off.

Teamster activists at DHL plan to pressure the IBT and their local officers to oppose the buy outs and other concessions. Petitions are circulating opposing any changes to the contract.

Buyout

Can anyone come up with a viable buyout package for us remaining Teamsters at DHL?
I am talkin' about a number that will take care of medical, vacation time accrued, sick $$ payout, P-Day$ and co$t of living.
"How do you like them apples?"
Don't forget the 40/hr contribution paid into the pension monthly they count.
I say there is some number that DHL has ready.
After the reduction by severance scare and the closing of so many areas with union labor, they must have come to some affordable figure.
I am thinking of a number.
This will not be a number the IBT would care to estimate because of the possible losses to their cashflow.
The new PTers will be dues payers.
Can the IBT at least work on the continued H&W if we get some BUYOUT?
I am thinking of a number.

Anyone in Union Local 295 that had enough time to retire but but could not because of the Union officer's withholding the cutoff date need to file a complaint with there local EBSA office, you need to let them know you were not informed of the cut off date until after it went by, you are suppose to given 30 days notice of any changes to your pension plan, it would seem that by imposing a cut off date to the plan it would justify a change and we should have been given notice prior to it, it should have been up to the members as to wheather they wanted to stay after the changes not the Officer's at the Hall, who by the way seemed to have there paperwork in prior to the date since they knew about it, these are the addy's for the ERISA Offices, if you write to the one in Mass make it attention to Jessica, she is already looking into it and the more she hears from the better, just let them know everything you had heard, seen or been told.

http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/compliance_assistance.html

Connecticut
Boston Regional Office
J.F.K.
