There is an old saying that I live by, Keep your friends close, your enemies even closer. It is easier for them to keep you in check if you are one of them.

hello tonia! i just wanted to say, i dont think its ups´s volition to get you into the wolves and eat you.....i think they know they would have a strong person that would help make them succesful.....most people that are in groups or orginizations, only care about themselves and thats why they are in a orginization...........the highest paid employees are management...... not teamsters.......

Tonia listen to your first thoughts and feelings.Management most likely does want to use you up then get rid of you.Always remember that without a union contract your up sh!t creek without a paddle when it comes to your job if they want to get rid of you.

Tonia, the other day you left a posting on the carhauler´s page asking about what it is that we do.In that same posting you mentioned UPS. Unfortunatly that is why you got a smartass reply. I´ll explain. UPS has a division called UPS Autogistics. The main function of this company is to provide the "big three" automakers with logistic support in the inventory and distribution of new vehicles. Automakers such as Ford Motor Co. have traditionally dealt one on one with the autotransport companies.UPS autogistics has stepped in and become a third party in this process. UPS has total control over who hauls the new vehicles to the dealerships. In St.louis Mo. for example; UPS took over the distribution at the Ford Plant. Approximatly One year later the Union Carrier(Allied Systems) which had served Ford at that plant since 1952 was asked to leave and a non-union company was brought in. The end result? 100 Teamsters out of work and more Erosion into the Teamsters smallest division(carhaul). No offense Tonia,,, But UPS is as big of a unionbuster as they get....... Carhaul Danno.

Go to management babe....Lots more money in the long run...Dont have to pay dues.....and since unions have steadily lost 75% of their membership (Teamsters 50%) in the past 20 years....youd be moving to a winning team...not a Loser.

You know which side of the fence you are on. Unfortunately their are too many people that think if they do a good job they are on managements side. BULL$HIT! DO YOUR JOB DO IT WELL AND DON´T RAT OUT YOU BROTHERS!When push comes to shove you give them a fair days work for a fair days pay and everything evens out.

I don't think management wants to fire you. What management wants is a member, a steward, in the ranks of teamsters who would be a management advocate. Management wants someone to report to them, who the "team players" and who are not. It would like someone in a position such as yours, to be a management rep. without actually having to pay for one.

Remember, being a management toad is not just a one time thing. It's something you will be expected to do forever more. So, why even start?

Want to earn the respect of management and your workers to? Make it known to all, you are here to enforce the contract to the best of your ability. You are here to ensure management gets it's grievances from your area and that grievances are followed per contract. Allow no one to move you from this position, no matter how tempting it may be.

Oh great silent_1, The amount of posts here have dwindled to less than a trickle, so any thread that has a post within the week is exciting to read even threads 6 yrs old. icon_wink.gif
