I went to the APWA meeting not long ago in our city. I was impressed with the fact that two feeder drivers like myself would take time to travel and fund this worthy cause. They are not TDU, not UPS, they are teamsters fed up with the Central States Pension Plan. Do you remember walking that picket line in l997 to get 30 and out? So what happened? Now the Teamsters are crying about the "perfect storm" and "911" when what really happened was mismanagement of the fund and relying on UPS'ers to carry the rest of the union on their backs. Freight let UPS in the plan here in Florida in l960. They didn't do us any favors because there was noone collecting until now. Now it's our turn to collect and all the contributions are going to Freight retirees and now were stuck working til were 62. I don't call that a favor!!! We need a UPS only pension plan. Whether it is APWA, AETNA, PRUDENTIAL. Anyone but Central States!!! WE NEED A CHANGE! If we all just boo hoo and say there is nothing we can do than it will just be more of the same. The Teamsters biggest mistake will be not taking APWA seriously whether they are successful or not, UPS members of the Central States Plan are not going to lay down and take it dry.

This is an APWA post and should have been posted in the APWA forum where it belongs. Why do we have to go through this with every APWA post. Who is the moderator for the UPS board?

Milkman83 you might want to ask them at the next meeting you go to if they are members of the union. As I hear it they have both resigned their membership and quit paying dues to the union. That makes them a scab in my book.

You might also want to ask them if they have ever discussed their UPS only union with any UPS corporate legal department staff out of Atlanta. They have and then after that discussion a high priced Washington, DC law firm just pops out of nowhere and volunteers to represent them. The law firm had been used by UPS in the past. Strange coincidence isn't it?

And then finally ask yourself how could two feeders drivers afford the travel costs; the meeting costs and the lawyer costs for this? They are not getting money from the UPS employees voluntarily signing over $150.00 to them. Their money is coming from somewhere else and that should be the question to them. Where are you getting the money from?

Then think back on how much time and money UPS is putting into the pension issue for the next contract. Kind of makes you think that these two scabs are being sucked in by the company and they don't even have enough brains to figure it out.

icon_cool.gif They are trying to get the money in the pension, thats it pure and simple. The Teamsters should take them seriously but we should get even more info on this APWA. They are not a union, yet, we as members need to remind each other that the Teamsters is a union and that with "Win to Change" we will see more representation in more occupations then ever before. Yes the Teamsters have made mistakes but it has been dealt with this APWA is not a proven entity to us and what have they done to actually help UPS employees that hasn't been done by the Teamsters? APWA is a danger to all we know as union, they are a front for the company and they are lying to you all. icon_cool.gif Ask them the hard questions and see what they say and do. icon_razz.gif icon_cool.gif

icon_razz.gif Why are we letting this group have any say in Teamster business, what have they done in the past 20 years for UPS workers anyway? We don't like their dividing of the union just to get to the money. Are there not retired UPSers that are receiving their pensions? Why don't you out there weigh in on this. We all should stand united against these usurpers of the TEAMSTERS pension money!! Don't let them waltz right in, lets make them see solidarity from all of us members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and lets remove this scourge of organized labor. Lets really check this APWA out so that the truth comes out. icon_cool.gif Luego!! icon_cool.gif

icon_cool.gif We should get in there to find out what the UPSers are wanting to see from this APWA group that is trying to bust the Teamsters and why they would entertain such an alternative for their representation at UPS. What can they do that the Teamsters haven't done all of these years? They're after the money. icon_cool.gif Cheers!! icon_razz.gif icon_cool.gif

icon_cool.gif We believe that they are part of the problem not the solution to it. This is an attempt to take the money, where have they been all these years? What have they been doing for those workers? So yes we better take the APWA seriously and kick them out. They are dividers not uniters, now they want to isolate UPS pension monies for themselves and whose to say they are not corrupt in their goals. icon_cool.gif Think!! icon_lol.gif

icon_cool.gif These people are going to hurt those UPSers if they get to the pension money. Don't listen to them especially if they make promises they can't keep. Lets get this election going then united we will say ,NO to the APWA. They are seriously wanting to cause all Teamsters problems, they have proven nothing in all these years in organized labor and they will not make a difference like they would like you all to believe. icon_evil.gif Twerps!! icon_lol.gif icon_cool.gif
