Actually, that comes out to $338,000,000, which does not spell bankruptcy given that this amount would not all come right off the bottom line since the company would pay less taxes and would get other ancillary benefits such as lower turnover, higher productivity, and a better quality of worker who will move up through the ranks over time. Of course, the company might not also be able to afford a part-time supervisor for every four hourly employees, but it wouldn´t need to in that case.

I always get a good laugh when you guys theorize that a higher wage will make you more productive. The least productive P/Ters are the ones that were around 20 years ago and are making near F/T wages today.

I will show your money to the employee who replaces you and handles our customers volume while you stand on the picket line contemplating your options in the food service industry.

Let me refresh your mind how it happened last contract or I suspect you weren´t around then so let me explain it to you. Your union refused to "show you the money" that was on the table in the form of a last, best and final offer because the offer required them to share control of the multi-employer pension fund. It contained profit sharing bonuses based on 1996 profit (Approximately $3000 per year) and hourly raises in alternating years. Your union opted for annual hourly raises EVERY year in lieu of bonuses and the creation of 10,000 of the lousiest F/T jobs the company could fabricate. Many P/Ters bid on these jobs that paid less than cover driving while all the rest of the P/ters were left holding the bag with the same wage scale in place since 1982. Your union´s rejection of the last best and final offer made it possible to post the record profits we have while your union officials live large off your pension fun. Don´t think you can be replaced? Look at the history of turnover ratio in this company. It is something we are very experienced at.

JAFO, why would such a wonderful company to work for have such a high turnover rate?

So you hire replacement workers who aren´t good enough to be hired now. (if they were good enough, why aren´t they working there now?)

Go for it JAFO! More brilliant thinking from UPS management!

JAFO,
Your reply is so funny. It was the Teamsters who caused UPS to go hell bent for fuqqing it´s work force so UPS could reap record profit after record profit? It was the Teamsters who caused UPS to make these rotten combo jobs? UPS couldn´t have given a better wage package? UPS had to have the pension fund to give a fair deal to the workers who make UPS what it is? UPS would have really recorded those record profits if the Teamsters had accepted the profit sharing plan? Or would they have spent more money on the logistics side of UPS and Side ventures like mail boxes ect. to eat up those profits? Your line of c r a p doesn´t pass the sniff test. UPS could have given a much better contract last time. If they concentrated half as much on taking care of their workers as they do about profits and scamming their workers out of the hard earned money they create for the company we wouldn´t have to have this conversation.

UPS couldn´t have raised those 1982 wage rates? The union wouldn´t have gone for that? Your a sad excuse for a human being and a lousy lair.....

You really need to understand how the contract negotiation procees works. After re-reading your post it is apparent that you really have no clue.

UPS pays my wage not the union. To blame the union for UPS´s substandard wage paid to the majority of their employees shows it is you who is clueless. All you have proven by your comments is that if you give UPS(people like you) an inch you will take a mile..

"It contained profit sharing bonuses based on 1996 profit (Approximately $3000 per year)"

This is incorrect. The
